A Word on Two Hadiths: (The believer is to the believer like a solid structure...) and (Go, for you are free).

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Indeed, all praise is due to Allah; we praise Him, seek His help, and seek His forgiveness. We seek refuge in Allah from the evil of our own selves and from the evil of our deeds. Whoever Allah guides, none can misguide, and whoever He misguides, none can guide. And I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah alone, with no partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and His Messenger. As for what follows:
My word now concerns two hadiths mentioned in the sermon of our brother Abu Anas, may Allah reward him for it, and to clarify another point he touched upon, advising the Islamic parties and groups to unite and come together. He was correct and successful in that, but the matter requires some clarification. As for the two hadiths referred to, the first is the authentic hadith:
The believer is to the believer like a building المؤمن للمؤمن كالبنيان
The word "al-murus" (solid) has no basis in the hadith. The hadith found in the two Sahihs and all books of the Sunnah is without the word "al-murus"
The believers are like a building they support one another. المؤمن للمؤمن كالبنيان يشد بعضه بعضا
Sunan an-Nasa'i 2560Sahih (Darussalam)
. Therefore, it is obligatory to point this out for two reasons. The first reason is that, naturally, it is painful to all of us for such an error to occur on the part of any of our brothers. The other thing is that this error is widespread, having spread to all students of knowledge and writers of knowledge, except those whom Allah has protected, and they are few. The other hadith, despite its fame in the books of biography, has no authentic chain of narration to mention, namely the story of "Go, for you are free." This hadith is, in reality, beautiful; the soul is pleased with it and inclined toward it, and that is not far from the character of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), whose glory is sufficient in that Allah the Exalted praised him and recorded that in His Book to the end of time. That is His saying, Mighty and Majestic:
And indeed, you are upon a great character وإنك لعلى خلق عظيم
So whatever is narrated as attributed to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) regarding his noble morals, that is a great deal. But that is one thing, and to say about the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) what is not authentic is another thing. For example, there is a hadith in the book *Al-Shifa* by Qadi Iyad, that a man made an appointment with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to wait for him in a place they named. He waited for three nights, or three days, and the Messenger did not come to that place, until he came and said to him, "You have made it hard on me; I have been waiting for you for three days." So he excused him with an excuse. This is not strange regarding his character (peace and blessings be upon him) and his noble traits. But, like that, its chain of narration is not authentic. So it is not permissible to attribute to him (peace and blessings be upon him) what is not established from the hadith, whether this hadith is from his saying (peace and blessings be upon him), or from his action, or from his approval. All of this and that and that is included in the term "Prophetic hadith." Therefore, this hadith
Go, for you are free اذهبوا فأنتم الطلقاء
is not authentic to attribute to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), because it was not mentioned except in the biography of Ibn Ishaq, which Ibn Hisham abridged, and which does not exist today except in this abridgment—*The Biography of Ibn Hisham*. So the chain of this hadith in the biography of Ibn Hisham, taken from the biography of Ibn Ishaq, is broken and has no connected chain. If this story and this virtue of our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) are mentioned as a narration, let it be mentioned with an explanation of its status. And as I told you, that is a little of the noble morals and traits of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). But the matter is related to narrating from the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), and therefore it is not befitting to narrate from him (peace and blessings be upon him) except what is authentic in its attribution to him.
