The Shaykh : This is a beginner student of knowledge who says: “May the Shaykh be respected, I am trying to understand grammar, but I have reached a stage of despair. I hope you will guide me to the best method to understand it easily, what is the beneficial book for beginners, and is it necessary to study it with a teacher? May Allah grant you success.”

The Shaykh : It is said that one of the masters of grammar experienced what this person experienced; he was unable to grasp grammar. One day, he saw an ant carrying food and trying to climb a wall. Every time it climbed higher on the wall, it and its food would fall. It was unable to succeed, and this happened several times with this ant: it would climb and fall, climb and fall. In the end, it climbed up and succeeded. He said: “This ant struggled with this task to this extent and did not despair, and it achieved its goal. So why should I not persist?” So he persisted, studied grammar, and became a master in it. And I say to our brother:The questioner : Among the best, most blessed, and most beneficial books we have read is *Al-Ajrumiyyah*. This book is concise and blessed; the author (may Allah have mercy on him) compiled the principles of grammar in it. Since you are a beginner, you must use this book. Strive to find a good teacher who is skilled in explaining meanings and illustrating issues. It is said that the gate of grammar is iron, and the rest is what? Reeds; it is easy. So seek help from Allah and learn, and do not despair. Yes.
