Discussion on the prescription of the eclipse prayer.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and I send prayers and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, the Seal of the Prophets and the Imam of the righteous, and upon his family and his Companions, and those who follow them with excellence until the Day of Judgment.
As for what follows:
It is fitting that this meeting, which is the monthly meeting held on the evening of every Saturday, specifically the third Saturday of each month, and this is the sixteenth Saturday of the month of Jumada al-Ula, 1417 AH, should take place. What our brother, Shaykh Mahmud ibn 'Abd al-'Aziz al-Sayyigh, mentioned was the topic of the research for welcoming the students of knowledge among the youth, but there may be something intervening, as the grammarians say: "This is an intervening sentence". The thing that intervened is the lunar eclipse that occurred before last night. It is said: "lunar eclipse" (khusuf al-qamar) and "solar eclipse" (khusuf al-shams), or "solar eclipse" (khusuf al-shams) and "lunar eclipse" (khusuf al-qamar), but it is more common to say "khusuf" for the moon and "khusuf" for the sun. We all know that the Creator of the heavens and the earth is Allah (Mighty and Majestic), and the Creator of the sun and the moon is Allah (Mighty and Majestic), and the one who moves the sun and the moon is Allah (Mighty and Majestic). Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) says:
And the sun runs [on course] toward its stopping point
[Ya-Sin 36:38]
(38) And the sun runs [on course] toward its stopping point. That is the determination of the Exalted in Might, the Knowing. (39) And the moon - We have determined for it phases, until it returns [appearing] like the old date stalk.
[Ya-Sin 36:38-39]
[That is the decree of the Almighty, the All-Knowing. And We have appointed for the moon mansions until it returns like the old date-stalk]. I mean, the sun and the moon move by the command of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) from the time Allah (the Exalted) created them until Allah (the Exalted) permits their destruction and the end of the world. This sun rises every day, and the crescent moon appears every month by the command of Allah (Mighty and Majestic), who is the Manager of them. Therefore, when the man argued with Ibrahim (peace be upon him) about his Lord, Ibrahim (peace be upon him) said to him:
"My Lord is the one who gives life and causes death," he said, "I give life and cause death."
[Al-Baqarah 2:258]
He said: "I give life and cause death." Then Ibrahim (peace be upon him) said to him:
Indeed, Allah brings up the sun from the east, so bring it up from the west.
[Al-Baqarah 2:258]
So he was unable to respond to this argument:
So the disbeliever was overwhelmed [by astonishment], and Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people.
[Al-Baqarah 2:258]
Therefore, if all the creatures were to gather to turn the sun back from its rising or hasten its setting, they would have no way to do so. The only one who is capable of that is? Its Creator, Allah, Lord of the worlds (Exalted and Majestic is He). And if Allah (the Exalted) wills to warn His servants with the eclipse of the moon and the eclipse of the sun by His command (Exalted and Majestic is He), they are two signs among the signs of Allah. They do not eclipse for the death of anyone or for the life of anyone. This is what the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) announced. He announced this because the sun eclipsed at the end of his life (peace and blessings be upon him), at the end of his life on the twenty-ninth day of the month of Shawwal in the tenth year of the Hijrah, and it happened that on that day, Ibrahim, the son of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), died. So the people said: "The sun eclipsed for the death of Ibrahim," because in the pre-Islamic age of ignorance, they used to say: "The sun eclipses when a great person dies, and the moon eclipses when a great person dies." So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) announced the falsity of this belief and said:
they do not become eclipsed for the death or birth of anyone
Sunan an-Nasa'i 1463Sahih (Darussalam)
He said:
For the death of anyone
[For the death of anyone]. Because this is the belief in which time? In which time, O brothers? In the time of the pre-Islamic age of ignorance.
Or for the life of anyone
[And for the life of anyone], to close the door to such claims, otherwise we do not know that anyone among the people said: "The sun eclipses or the moon eclipses for the life of anyone," but the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) followed the mention of death with the mention of life to close the door, and that the life and death of people do not affect the upper world at all.
