Issues related to the prayer of the eclipse.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Here are some issues. The first issue: It is better for the people to gather for the prayer of the eclipse, because this is what happened during the time of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him); the people did not disperse in their mosques. Also, when people gather, they are closer to acceptance and to the lifting of the warning of punishment from them. Furthermore, if they gather behind one imam, there may be in the imam’s sermon something that softens hearts, unlike if they were dispersed. The second issue: If a follower joins the prayer after the imam has risen from the first bowing in a unit, has he caught the unit? The answer is no. That is, if you enter with the imam after he has performed the first bowing, you have missed the unit. Let us give four examples for this. The first example: A man enters with the imam before he bows for the first time; we say that he has caught the unit. After he has bowed the first bowing but is still reciting for the second bowing, what do we say? He has missed the unit. A third man: Enters with the imam during the recitation of the first bowing of the second unit; he has missed the first unit and caught the second unit. The fourth man: Enters with the imam after he has risen from the first bowing of the second unit; what is the case? He has missed the entire prayer. When the imam concludes the prayer, he makes up what he missed in its proper form, meaning: he bows twice in every unit. How many issues have we mentioned? The fifth issue: If the eclipse clears before the prayer is completed, what does he do? He completes the prayer, but he shortens it, because the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said:
Pray until it clears صلوا حتى ينجلي
So if the eclipse clears while the imam is in the middle of the prayer, he shortens it and completes it. The sixth issue: If the eclipse clears before they pray, what do they do? They do not pray, because it has cleared and its time has passed. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said:
Pray until it clears صلوا حتى ينجلي
. The seventh issue: If the eclipse occurs as it did in our month, meaning: at the break of dawn, we say: If they learn of it before the call to prayer, they pray the eclipse, because they have learned of it and it is not permissible for them to delay the prayer, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said:
Panic افزعوا
meaning: Pray quickly, like the panic of fear. Now, if they pray and the dawn breaks, and they fear that the sun will rise before they finish the dawn prayer, what do they do? They shorten the prayer, meaning: the prayer of the eclipse, for the sake of the dawn prayer. The eighth issue: If the dawn breaks before they pray the prayer of the eclipse, what do they do? They begin with the obligatory prayer before the prayer of the eclipse, because the obligatory prayer is a prayer, so it falls under the generality of his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
Panic to the prayer افزعوا إلى الصلاة
And because it is an obligation, and the obligation is more beloved to Allah than the voluntary prayer, as Allah the Exalted said in the Holy Hadith:
And the most beloved things with which My slave comes nearer to Me, is what I have enjoined upon him ما تقرب إلي عبدي بشيء أحب إلي مما افترضته عليه
Sahih al-Bukhari 6502
And because if he prays the obligatory prayer, the people are in ease; a person can leave if he has work, or leave if he wants to attend to his needs, unlike if the dawn prayer were the one delayed. So the important point is that whenever the eclipse occurs after the time of the obligatory prayer has entered, he begins with the obligatory prayer. These are issues related to the eclipse. And we ask Allah the Exalted to treat us all with His forgiveness, for He is Able to do all things.
