Does the smoker fall under the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family): “Whoever kills himself is in the Fire,” or the meaning of the hadith?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : He says: May the Shaykh be honored. On the occasion of the month of Ramadan, my question is: Does the smoker fall under the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
Whoever kills himself is in the Fire, or whoever kills himself is in the Fire أن من قتل نفسه فهو في النار أو يقتل نفسه في النار
in the meaning of the hadith? Does the smoker fall under this? And what is your advice for our brothers who have been afflicted with it?

The Shaykh : The smoker undoubtedly exposes himself to danger, because the doctors have agreed that smoking—may Allah protect us and you from it and protect the Muslims who are afflicted with it from it—the doctors have agreed that it is harmful, and that it is a cause of throat and lung cancer, and its harm is a clear matter. Look at those who are afflicted with it; you will find them low in spirit and weak in will. If they were to quit it, they would find energy and vitality. It is well known that some people may not be harmed by it immediately, because we see people who smoke it while they are healthy. But in the end, it must harm them. Then, if they were protected from it, they would be stronger and healthier. Therefore, we say that the one who is afflicted with smoking should ask Allah, the Exalted, to protect him from it, and to turn to Allah, and to seek His help in leaving it, and to leave it little by little, and to stay away from those who smoke it so that he does not long for it, so that he does not long for it again. And if a person wants Allah, the Exalted, to protect him, He gives him strong determination. We have seen people who had determination, so they quit it completely and did not return to it. But most people have weak spirits; when their chests become tight, they want to smoke, they are unable to be patient, so they return to it. But if they were patient and endured, Allah would free them from it. Yes.
