The questioner : In our village, some people recite the remembrance of Allah loudly while standing and send blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and they do this on the nights of Monday and Friday. I advised them about this and told them that this is a religious innovation. They mocked me and said to me: "We are right, and you are the one who is wrong." I rejected this speech and do not care. Please advise people like these?
The Shaykh : Our advice to people like these is to fear Allah (Mighty and Majestic) in themselves, to know their own standing, and to know that it is not permissible for them to precede Allah and His Messenger, and that they have no right to legislate in the religion of Allah what is not part of it. The religion is the religion of Allah (Mighty and Majestic), and it is He who legislates for His servants what His wisdom requires, which is in their interest in the present and the future. They know, whether they wish it or not, that the religion is the religion of Allah and that the Shari'ah is His legislation. But I want them to apply the implication of this knowledge so that they do not transgress the Shari'ah of Allah, and so they do not worship Him with what He has not prescribed. Let these people know that every verbal, physical, or creedal act they perform to draw near to Allah (Mighty and Majestic) will only increase their distance from Allah if it is not prescribed by the Book of Allah or the Sunnah of His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). For this reason, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say in the Friday sermon:Sahih Muslim 867a Thus, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) informed us through this hadith, which he declared in the Friday sermon, that the best of guidance is the guidance of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and that whatever contradicts his guidance is evil. He also informed us that every religious innovation in the religion of Allah is misguidance, and that every misguidance is in the Fire.
Let these people know that this act is hardship and punishment: hardship in this world, difficulty, toil, and fatigue, and punishment on the Day of Resurrection. I do not limit this to the innovation they introduced regarding sending blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in the manner mentioned by the questioner, but I am speaking about this innovation of theirs and about everything that has been innovated in the religion of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He), whether in creed, speech, or action. A person must be a servant of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) in the sense of this servitude, so that he does not precede Him and does not introduce into His religion what He has not prescribed. Yes.
The questioner : May Allah bless you.

The best of the speech is embodied in the Book of Allah, and the best of the guidance is the guidance given by Muhammad. And the most evil affairs are their innovations; and every innovation is error.
