Two of the praying people hurried to perform the Zuhr prayer and caught three rak'ahs

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Two of the praying people hurried to perform the Zuhr prayer and caught three rak'ahs, and the imam experienced a state of ritual impurity while they were a congregation of four, with the fifth being the imam. So he took one of the latecomers. How is the prayer completed? His prayer is incomplete, and his companion’s prayer is also incomplete. We ask for guidance?

The Shaykh : If the imam experiences a state of ritual impurity during the prayer, it is obligatory for him to leave, and it is not permissible for him to complete the prayer while in a state of ritual impurity. If some people are overcome by shyness and bashfulness, they may remain leading the people in prayer while in a state of ritual impurity. This is playing with the religion of Allah (Mighty and Majestic), and it is a forbidden act. The obligatory duty for one who is afflicted by a state of ritual impurity during his prayer is to leave it and order one of those behind him to complete the prayer for the people, whether that is in the first rak'ah or after it. His substitute completes for the people what remains of the prayer. It is recommended that he not appoint as a substitute anyone other than one who was with him from the beginning of the prayer, so that confusion does not occur. If he appoints as a substitute a latecomer from among those behind him, then this latecomer completes according to the number of rak'ahs he owes. As for the congregation who had caught up with the first imam from the beginning of the prayer, when the substitute stands to complete his prayer, they do not follow him in this case, because they have already completed their prayer. However, they sit and wait for him and say the closing salam with him. This is the ruling of the issue.
