Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Is this hadith, O honorable one,The Shaykh :"May Allah curse the drinker before the seeker" is reported, because it is frequently heard on the tongues of many people?

The Shaykh : Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions.
This hadith that you mentioned,The questioner :"May Allah curse the drinker before the seeker", this has no basis and is not authentic from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), but it is one of the hadiths that became widespread on the tongues of people without having a basis, and there are many such reports circulating among the general public. It is obligatory for a person to be careful in what he attributes to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), whether in speech, action, or approval, because lying about the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) is not like lying about any of us, for it is lying about the Shari'ah of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He).
The scholars (may Allah have mercy on them) have authored books on the hadiths that circulate on the tongues of people without having a basis, and among them is: "Distinguishing the Good from the Bad in What Circulates on the Tongues of People from Hadith".
Among the hadiths that are widespread on the tongues of people without having a basis is their saying: "Love of the homeland is part of faith", and their saying: "The best of names are those that praise and worship", and their saying: "The stomach is the house of disease and diet is the head of medicine", and there are many such examples. What is reported from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) regarding names is:
The most loved names to Allah are 'Abdullah and 'Abdur-Rahman. أحب الأسماء إلى الله عبد الله وعبد الرحمان
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2834Sahih (Darussalam)
This is established from him (peace and blessings be upon him).
And the important thing is that it is obligatory for a person to be cautious in what he attributes to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) so that he does not fall into the severe warning in which the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
He who lies about me deliberately will certainly come to his abode in Hell. من كذب علي متعمداً فليتبوء مقعده من النار
Sunan Abi Dawud 3651Sahih (Al-Albani)
, and he said:
He who relates from me something which he deems false is one of the liars. من حدث عني بحديث يرى أنه كذب فهو أحد الكاذبين
Riyad as-Salihin 1548
