The Shaykh’s remarks on his method of calling people to Islam through discussion, and his remarks on his book *The Description of the Prophet’s Prayer*

The questioner: Oh Shaykh, I mean, despite my mistakes with you, I have benefited greatly. May Allah bless you!

The Shaykh : May Allah keep you safe.

The questioner: Oh Shaykh, the important thing, the important thing is adherence.

The Shaykh: By Allah, what concerns me is that every brother of ours be as He said - the Exalted - :
This is my way; I invite to Allah with insight, I and those who follow me قُلْ هَذِهِ سَبِيلِي أَدْعُو إِلَى اللَّهِ عَلَى بَصِيرَةٍ أَنَا وَمَنِ اتَّبَعَنِي
[Yusuf 12:108]
. I am not concerned that I am on clarity, and praise be to Allah, our Lord has been very generous with me, especially since I do not forget that I used to pray as a non-Arab Albanian!!

The questioner: The Shaykh started with us!! There is no power nor strength except by Allah.

The Shaykh: But I want every Muslim brother to be with me on clarity, as the Exalted said.

The questioner: I wish I were a non-Arab like you, hehehehe.

The Shaykh: There is no power nor strength except by Allah. The point is: has the conviction been achieved now, or is there still a doubt or what?

The questioner: No, by Allah, there is no doubt, oh Shaykh.

The Shaykh : May Allah reward you with good.

The questioner : That is a grace from Allah.

The Shaykh: I will add to that.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good.

The Shaykh: I will add to that!

The questioner : Please, Shaykh.

The Shaykh: First: as you know, this is not in the category of teaching as before, but rather in the category of reminding: that I have compiled a small booklet on the description of the prayer, and I believe that no one has done this compilation before us, to the best of our knowledge. It is possible that previous scholars preceded us in doing this and more, but within the limits of what we have seen, no one has ever done it. So I did not find anything that would make me feel secure about such a situation, and this is what justifies for me to say: it is a religious innovation (bid'ah). Because this is my duty, so that I open the minds and eyes of people at the same time, to say: this is a religious innovation (bid'ah). And I say on this occasion: who is able to say this is a religious innovation (bid'ah) and this is a recommended practice (sunnah)?! It is not the jurists, but rather the hadith scholars!

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh: And not every hadith scholar, but rather the hadith scholar who purifies the Sunnah and says: this is authentic and this is not authentic. And our Lord - Mighty and Majestic - by His grace, generosity, and favor, established me in this position. And therefore, I am as certain as certainty itself that this practice is a religious innovation (bid'ah) without doubt. The books of hadith, the books of athar, and the books of jurisprudence all support me in this; they are empty, even of a single hadith, of so-and-so from the Companions saying: I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) raise his hands from bowing and say, "Allah hears the one who praises Him, our Lord, and to You is the praise," and place the right hand on the left in prayer. This is one thing. And this small booklet I compiled from about two hundred books, most of which are manuscripts and not printed. So I am able to assert that this is a religious innovation (bid'ah). But the one who does not know says like the one who did not know: if you would lighten the blow a little, and say: this is not recommended (mustahabb), but like this, you throw a stone of religious innovation (bid'ah)!!? No, I say: it is a religious innovation (bid'ah) without doubt. And this religious innovation (bid'ah) is most severe when it comes from those scholars who fight against religious innovations (bid'ah), and I presented an example to you just now.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh: Finally: this hadith of Wail, from the technical scientific hadith perspective, is excerpted. It is an excerpt, a piece of a long hadith that is in *Sahih Muslim*.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh: In *Sahih Muslim*, Wail says: "I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) praying. So when he entered into the prayer, he raised his hands and said, 'Allahu Akbar.' Then he recited. Then when he bowed, he raised his hands as he did the first time. - When did he bow? - When he raised his head from bowing, he said, 'Sami' Allahu li man hamidah,' and raised his hands as he did." He did not say here, as he did in the first standing, "and placed the right hand on the left," and in a narration, "and took"!!

The questioner: Is this authentic, oh Shaykh?!

The Shaykh: Definitely, it is a hadith in *Sahih Muslim*, in *Musnad Ahmad*, and so on. When you see this hadith with this completeness, with this perfection, you go back to *Sunan al-Nasa'i* and you find a piece of this hadith: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), when he stood in prayer, would place the right hand on the left." My brother, this is an abbreviation of that long hadith.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh: And this is found in many hadiths!

The questioner: Every movement is detailed!

The Shaykh : Yes?

The questioner: Every movement is detailed.

The Shaykh: Ah, so for this reason, and this, and this, we say: that this practice has no basis in the Sunnah, and what is not so is a religious innovation (bid'ah) without doubt.
