The Shaykh’s discussion with the students on the fact that a man has a reward for having intercourse with his wife.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : It seems like... I understood from you regarding the request for water, and regarding, I mean, if he is in a desert and wants his family, let him come to his family and complete, I mean, it is permissible. A visitor from a while ago visited me, some relatives, he and his wife. I gave them a room, and I said to him, "We have hot water and sun and such. If you wish to bathe for Fajr, bathe at your leisure." He said, "I seek refuge in Allah. I am among people, I mean, what is this?" I said, "Why?" He said, "No, it is shameful." I said to him, "Why is it shameful? These are, I mean, your relatives and you..." He said, "Tomorrow, after that, it is not on him. I am going to my house, and in my house." I said, "By Allah, in your house, in my house." The point is, I offered you the Sunnah. If you want, if you earn a reward in the intercourse of one of you, the water is ready. Do you not want it from your own bag?

The Shaykh : He does not know this lesson.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : He thinks that one only satisfies his desire, like an animal, and that he has no reward for it. He does not know, and he is excused because the Companions did not know, so the Messenger of Allah taught them, and they learned. But these people are not learning because the scholars are not teaching them. And so you hear from them—my intention is—if the Companions said,
One of us satisfies his desire, and he has a reward for it. أحدنا يأتي شهوته فله عليها أجر
it is truly something strange, but the grace of Allah is greater, so the logical, reasonable, legal answer came to them:
Do you not think that if he places it in what is forbidden, he does not have a sin? أرأيت إن وَضَعَها في حرام أليس عليه وزر ؟
. They said: "Yes." He said:
Similarly, if he were to devote it to something lawful, he should have a reward. فكذلك إذا وضعها في الحلال فله عليها أجر
Sahih Muslim 1006
; so let him take them out of the darknesses into the light. So the one who follows the way of the Messenger - (peace and blessings be upon him) - he and his Companions, they would have come out of the darknesses into the light. These common people are poor, living as the Companions lived before what? The sending of the Messenger and his teaching of them... like this hadith.

The questioner : It does not enter into modesty, I mean, it is not from modesty.

Another questioner : Strange, our Shaykh. Sayyid Sabiq, I read for him in the margin, he mentioned that if a person was single and went to visit a married man and was afflicted with major ritual impurity. I thought this was among the common people, but I was surprised.

The Shaykh : He performs dry ablution.

The questioner : He sees this... .

Another questioner : ... Abu Hudhayfah... so the Shaykh asked... Subhan Allah, he said this statement has no correct basis.

The Shaykh : This... that.

The questioner : His explanation, our Shaykh, is that he feared he would be ordered... this is not a correct explanation.

The Shaykh : What... .
The student : But this is instead of the man being upright and noble... and he does not have... .
Another student: In this, it appears, and Allah knows best, that there were, I mean, people who were widespread previously, and the old buildings had mixing, and that, I mean, like this, men and women were close to each other, so this arose, of course, out of ignorance, but the strange thing... I mean, it is very strange.
Another student: ... currently, my Shaykh.
