The manner of sitting between the two prostrations, what is said in it, and the movement of the index finger in it.

The Shaykh : Because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
It was narrated from Anas that the Messenger of Allah(ﷺ) fell from a horse onto his right side. They came to visit him and the time for prayer came. When the prayer was over he said: "The Imam is appointed to be followed. When he bows, then bow, when he stands up, then stand up, when he prostrates, then prostrate, and when he says Sami' Alldhu liman hamidah (Allah hears the one who praises Him), then say, Rabbanri lakal-hamd (Our Lord, to You be the praise)." إذا سجد فاسجدوا وإذا ركع فاركعوا
Sunan an-Nasa'i 794Sahih (Darussalam)
, so we were commanded to follow the imam and not to lag behind him.
Then he rises from the prostration while saying the takbir.
And he sits between the two prostrations. How does he sit?
He sits in the style of iftirash.
Iftirash is placing the left leg flat on the ground as a base, and raising the right leg on the right side. This is iftirash.
As for the hands, he places the right hand on the right thigh or on the knee, and the left hand on the left thigh or hooks it on the knee. Both are manners reported from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
But with the right hand, he gathers the little finger, ring finger, middle finger, and thumb like this, or he forms a circle with the thumb and middle finger. As for the index finger, it remains open and not gathered. He moves it only when making du'a, not constantly moving it and not constantly keeping it still, but he moves it as he makes du'a.
For example, if he says: "My Lord, forgive me," he raises it; "and have mercy on me," he raises it; "and restore me and heal me," he raises it for every phrase of du'a.
As for the left hand, it is extended.
The left hand is extended on the thigh or hooked on the knee.
It has not been reported from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) – to my knowledge – that the right hand is extended, but rather it was reported that the little finger and ring finger are gathered from it. So in some wordings of the hadith of Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both):
When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) sat in prayer كان إذا قعد في الصلاة
Sahih Muslim 579a
.
And in some of them:
When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) sat to say the tashahhud إذا قعد في التشهد
Sunan an-Nasa'i 1275Sahih (Darussalam)
.
And restricting this to the tashahhud does not mean that it does not encompass the entire prayer, because the stronger position among the opinions of the usul al-fiqh scholars
