Is it understood from the hadith of the descent of the Lord - Blessed and Exalted is He - to the lowest heaven that there is nothing above Him?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner: His EminenceThe Shaykh : We know that Allah is the Manifest, and there is nothing above Him. It came in the hadith of the descent that Allah descends in the last third of the night to the lowest heaven; so is it understood from the hadith of the descent that there is nothing above Allah when He descends to the lowest heaven?

The Shaykh : Certainly, this is the understanding; that is, when our Lord - Mighty and Majestic - descends to the lowest heaven, we must not forget the rule we mentioned earlier; which is that He - Blessed and Exalted is He -
There is nothing like unto Him لَيْسَ كَمِثْلِهِ شَيْءٌ
[Ash-Shuraa 42:11]
; so it is not permissible for the Muslim to imagine when he reads or hears this hadith containing the divine descent that His descent - Blessed and Exalted is He - is like the descent of any human being; meaning, now these individuals are descending, so when they descended from the classroom to the mosque to the road, the classroom became empty of them; so it is not befitting for us to imagine that Allah - Mighty and Majestic - when He descends to the lowest heaven, that His descent is like the descent of these people; because this is likening Allah to creation, and all likening is invalid first, and second, a human descends due to his incapacity and weakness from being able to fulfill all his actions and desires while still in his place or on his Throne; so due to his weakness, he descends from his Throne until he enters the place of relief to relieve himself, the bathroom; all of this is evidence of his weakness and incapacity. As for our Lord - Blessed and Exalted is He - who possesses all attributes of perfection and is free from all attributes of deficiency; it is not permissible for us to imagine that His descent from above all creations to the lowest heaven means that He has now become among His creations, and that some of His creations have become above Him, far be it from Allah - Blessed and Exalted is He - !! And so His descent is not like the descent of humans. We have examples from what Allah - Mighty and Majestic - created in this world by which we can approximate this divine attribute, otherwise
There is nothing like unto Him لَيْسَ كَمِثْلِهِ شَيْءٌ
[Ash-Shuraa 42:11]
.
The sun, as you know, I do not know how many light-years the astronomers say are between us and it? Despite that, it extends its rays and its light penetrates all these vast distances until it enters the earth, which we have interests in these rays that it extends to us. And despite that, the sun remains in the heights of its sky, and it has descended with its rays to these distances and to the earth ultimately. This is an approximate example. Likewise, the moon. But our Lord - Mighty and Majestic -
There is nothing like unto Him لَيْسَ كَمِثْلِهِ شَيْءٌ
[Ash-Shuraa 42:11]
. This objection is in reality like a person who does not believe in Allah - Mighty and Majestic - and His greatness and His encompassing the universe with His knowledge, saying: How can our Lord understand in one moment from these languages, from these diverse languages which are in the hundreds, if not in the thousands, of humans? Then how does He understand the animals and fulfill the desires of this entire group? This is not said except regarding the ordinary created being. As for the Lord of the worlds, whose attribute is that He is Able over all things, this thought never comes to the heart of a Muslim. Likewise, let our position always be, forever, regarding all attributes of Allah - Mighty and Majestic - that they do not resemble any attribute of the attributes of the servants of Allah absolutely. And true is Allah when He says:
There is nothing like unto Him, and He is the Hearing, the Seeing. لَيْسَ كَمِثْلِهِ شَيْءٌ وَهُوَ السَّمِيعُ البَصِيرُ
[Ash-Shuraa 42:11]
