Continuation of the discussion on the hadith of the girl.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : They split into sects, seventy-three sects. Where did they get the idea that they could create this atmosphere that was provided for that girl, the slave girl, so that our women would understand the creed that every Muslim must believe in, just as our men do? Where did they get that from? We find people who hold a pen and write in some magazines whatever comes to mind, and they fight the creed of the Salaf by claiming that the Salaf did not believe in this creed! This is the most dangerous thing a person hears in this present age: that someone comes to the creed of tawhid (the oneness of Allah) and dilutes it... and that it is enough to say: "La ilaha illa Allah, Muhammad rasul Allah" (There is no god but Allah, Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah), even if you do not understand what "Ilah" (God) means. This girl understood her Lord as He is described—Blessed and Exalted is He—in the Book and the Sunnah. She answered with ease and without thinking, because she lived in this creed. Allah is in the sky. Today, the great scholars, great preachers, and writers have gathered. Ask them this question, and I consider this a test directed at every Muslim today. Ask them: "Where is Allah?" You will find them differing in their answer to this question. Some call this a question of misguidance, ignorant of the fact that the one who taught us this is the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), who testifies with his tongue, for he is Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah, and he says this is a question of misguidance. Some are perplexed by this question and do not know what to say. And some, as you heard, say that Allah is present everywhere. When the danger of the misguidance in this statement becomes clear to them, they retreat and say, "I meant that He is everywhere in the sense that Allah is with His knowledge." So the one who said, "These are a people who have lost their Lord," has spoken the truth. I return now to prove that the creed of the Salaf is truly the safest, the most knowledgeable, and the most wise. Now you know what is refuted regarding the creed of the Khalaf (the later generations) by their ta'wil (figurative interpretation) of the verses of the attributes. This interpretation led them to rule that Allah does not exist, because He is neither inside the world nor outside it, with certain knowledge that Allah—Mighty and Majestic—was, and there was no creation and nothing at all. So where was Allah before? Was He in a place? It is self-evident, a logical and religious statement, that He was not in a place, because Allah is free of need for a place. So when we say, as stated in the Noble Qur'an:
The Most Merciful [who is] above the Throne established. الرَّحْمَنُ عَلَى الْعَرْشِ اسْتَوَى
[Taha 20:5]
, is He in a place? The answer is: He is not in a place.
