What is your opinion of the book: "This is Sufism" by Shaykh "Abd al-Rahman al-Wakil"?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner: "This is Sufism" by "Abd al-Rahman al-Wakil," what do you think of the book?

The Shaykh: Our brothers, the supporters of the Sunnah in Egypt, have, I mean, knowledge of Sufism and its smoke, and of the deviation from the Book and the Sunnah that has entered it. However, they do not apply the methodological hadith transmission, so they attack everyone who is known among the Sufis themselves as being from the awliya (close friends of Allah) and the righteous, simply because they see some of their words mentioned in their books. So "Abd al-Rahman al-Wakil" is of this type, and our brother "Abd al-Rahman Abd al-Khaliq" is of this type. Whereas it should not be attributed to one whom we know with certainty is a Muslim and who testifies that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah; and especially if he is famous for righteousness, no, it is not permissible for us to attribute to him words that are disbelief itself, simply because we saw these words mentioned in the books of the Sufis themselves, who do not know the path of the narrator and do not conduct themselves with the etiquette of the Messenger - (peace and blessings be upon him) - :
A person is considered a liar if he narrates everything he hears بحسب المرء من الكذب أن يحدِّثَ بكلِّ ما سمع
Al-Mustadrak lil-Hakim 20:70
, so if not for this point, his book would have been good.

The questioner: Did you meet him, our Shaykh?

The Shaykh : Yes?

The questioner: I metThe Shaykh : Abd al-Rahman al-Wakil?

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner: In Egypt ... .

The Shaykh: When he was teaching there.

The questioner: To so-and-so, to so-and-so, he mentions, each one of them mentions ... .

The Shaykh: I am not telling you! And this has seeped into them from their Shaykh, Hamid al-Faqi.

The questioner: - Also - Did you meet him, our Shaykh?

The Shaykh: Yes.

The questioner: "Muhammad Hamid al-Faqi," the Shaykh of "Abd al-Rahman al-Wakil."

The Shaykh: Yes, he was his successor after him; I mean, they appointed him head of the group of supporters of the Sunnah after the death ofThe Shaykh : Hamid al-Faqi, yes,The Shaykh : Hamid, I mean, he had an exaggeration in speech greatly, and this ... in those Egyptian lands, there is no doubt that the majority of Egyptians is honoring Sufism and loving Sufism and exaggerating in honoring the awliya (close friends of Allah) and the righteous, al-Tabatibani and Badi' and al-Sha'rani and so on. So when he mentioned these, he mentioned them with very ugly titles. And as they say, if I forget, I will not forget that when he was mentioning al-Sha'rani and what he mentions of stories which are catastrophes in his book "Al-Tabaqat al-Kubra," instead of saying: al-Sha'rani said, he says: al-Ba'rani said!! And also the first time I met him, I met in an office in the first Hajj I performed, I visited him in the hotel, with me was the leader of the group that I was with at that time, his name was "Fahd al-Malik," he introduced me to him, so when he heard my name, and I was of course a young man at that time, it was before approximately thirty-five years. How long has it been since my completion?

The questioner: Forty years, our Shaykh.

The Shaykh: Forty years.

The questioner: Forty-eight, you were the first Hajj you performed.

The Shaykh: That is it, the important thing is he stood up like this and embraced me, and welcome and so on, and how are the brothers? And how is the da'wah there in Syria? And so on, the occasion of mentioning the Muslim Brotherhood came up, what did he say to me? These are the "khuwwan"!!

The questioner: I also heard he used to say about them ... .

The Shaykh: Yes, so glory to Allah! They have these words that are not approved for the da'wah workers, so it appears the style transferred to Abd al-Rahman, his student.
