The ruling on selling and buying televisions.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : As you know, we deal in trade with televisions, refrigerators, gas ovens, and all these electrical appliances. What is the ruling of the Shari'ah regarding the television in the present time, specifically regarding its sale and purchase?

The Shaykh : Do not sell it to anyone.

The questioner : Absolutely not. Allah is the Greatest.

The Shaykh : Because, as I think you know more than I do, the predominant use of it is in disobedience to Allah.

The questioner : Certainly, yes.

The Shaykh : If you know this fact, then your answer will be based on this knowledge: do not sell to anyone. And if you know otherwise, then we benefit from you.

The questioner : May Allah reward you.

The Shaykh : And upon you be peace, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. And I know why, and I know why the answer is: do not sell.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : Because it is not permissible for a Muslim to sell what harms his Muslim brother. The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
It was narrated from 'Ubadah bin Samit that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ruled: “There should be neither harming nor reciprocating harm.” لا ضرر ولا ضرار
Sunan Ibn Majah 2340Da'if (Darussalam)
And Allah says:
but do not cooperate in sin and aggression ولا تعاونوا على الإثم والعدوان
[Al-Ma'idah 5:2]
.

The questioner : May Allah reward you.

The Shaykh : May Allah bless you. Please, go ahead.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good, O our Shaykh. It is a matter, meaning, I want to clarify whether my understanding of it is wrong or right.
Abu Layla : They were men of the Tabligh movement, the mosque here, apparently from Pakistan, and with them was a Shaykh, do you know them, Muhammad Kamal al-Tablighi, the judge, who is the legal judge.

The Shaykh : Muhammad Kamal, or Mustafa? They named him Mustafa, this judge.

The questioner : O our Shaykh, I say, in truth, I want to clarify whether my understanding is correct or wrong regarding the matter of Muslims in a state of war and fighting, and the material affairs with the disbelievers. For example, we often hear that a Shaykh was studying in Saudi Arabia via the radio.
