Discussion of some of the armed movements in Syria.

al-Eid Abbasi : Perhaps I mentioned to you yesterday, or perhaps I did not, how one of those who had a great deal of activity and effort in the armed movement that was in Syria, before he was arrested, I met him and discussed with him what they are proceeding to do and what they are doing of killing, assassination, and bombing, and the like of that. From where did you bring this? What is your evidence from the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of the Messenger? So what was his answer? By Allah, we read that Islam commands benefiting from the experiences of others, and from the experiences of others in a communist gang in Argentina called "Tupamaros." They published a book called "We Are the Tupamaros," in which they explain their method for reaching power. What is their method? He said their method is to eliminate the intelligence services, because the intelligence agencies in every state represent the eye and ear of the regime, and the regime is like a strong, mighty beast. So if you eliminate its hearing and sight, it no longer sees or hears, and all its strength is of no use to it, and it vanishes and falls dead, so you have eliminated it by the shortest path. Oh, the glory of Allah! If one looks at this speech, naturally many of the enthusiastic, naive youth who have not been guided by the guidance of the Salaf may approve of it. Yes, by Allah, it is a good idea and a great invention, and a quick discovery by the shortest path to reach power. But the one who weighs that by the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger finds that this means contradicting the way of the Messengers, that this is an abomination of speech and falsehood, and that this contains catastrophes and calamities of results which they did not think about. They say to them, perhaps an innocent person will be killed in this bombing. They say to them, yes, no harm, he is oppressed, what will befall him? He will enter Paradise. Well, he enters Paradise, but you who killed him by your bombing and your negligence and your indifference, where will you enter? You will enter the Fire. They cite that, by Allah, it is mentioned in some books of jurisprudence that if the disbelievers take cover with some Muslims, it is permissible to kill them, like this, without looking or specifying. By Allah, what are the limits of that? What is the evidence for this? Were they forced to do so? What forced you to do so? You are the ones who placed yourselves in this difficulty. So you see their jurisprudence is truly crooked, most resembling the jurisprudence of the Khawarij. Like this, some texts from here and there, scraps of what they read from some books, they permit for themselves, and they are not among the scholars or the jurists, and they have not reached this level, and they have not acquired the tools of knowledge. You see them issuing rulings on the greatest matters and their issues, and if you see them in, for example, ordinary jurisprudential matters, they are imitators; they do not do anything except by consultation.The Shaykh : with one who is like them, an imitator, but who has perhaps acquired more of the issues than the others.
