The questioner’s objection to the principle of screening and training before jihad, and his statement that jihad has only two conditions: sincerity, and that it be under the banner

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The student : And we seek refuge in Allah from the evils of our souls and from the badness of our deeds. Whom Allah guides, there is no one who can misguide him, and whom He misguides, there is no one who can guide him. And I bear witness that there is no god but Allah alone, with no partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and His Messenger,
O you who have believed, fear Allah as He should be feared and do not die except as Muslims [in submission to Him].
[Ali 'Imran 3:102]
,
O mankind, fear your Lord, who created you from one soul and created from it its mate and dispersed from both of them many men and women. And fear Allah, through whom you ask one another, and the wombs. Indeed Allah is ever, over you, an Observer.
[An-Nisa 4:1]
,
(70) O you who have believed, fear Allah and speak words of appropriate justice. (71) He will [then] amend for you your deeds and forgive you your sins. And whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger has certainly attained a great attainment.
[Al-Ahzab 33:70-71]
. As for what follows:
Indeed, the best of speech is the speech of Allah, and the best of guidance is the guidance of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and the worst of matters are their innovations, and every innovation is a religious innovation, and every religious innovation is misguidance, and every misguidance is in the Fire.

The Shaykh : ... .
The student : Yes, exactly.

The Shaykh : ... Yes.
The student : Yes, there is no doubt that the issue of jihad in the path of Allah has occupied the minds of most of those who hold fast to the Sunnah in the way of the righteous predecessors. And there is no doubt, and no doubt, that you are among the early imams in this era calling for adherence to the Book and the Sunnah in the way of the righteous predecessors. So in the issue of jihad in the path of Allah, we call upon people to fight in the path of Allah a jihad that requires sincerity of intention for Allah, Lord of the Worlds. The second condition that we know from the Book and the Sunnah is that it be under the banner of Islam, not under other banners, as mentioned in the authentic hadith. But we often hear the youth who hold fast to the Sunnah imposing conditions that they attribute to you. We do not know any evidence for these conditions from the Book and the Sunnah, such as the condition of education, which is a collective obligation and not an individual obligation, and similarly, for example, the condition of...

The Shaykh : Like the condition of what?
The student : Education, which is a collective obligation and not an individual obligation, or the condition of screening and training, or the condition of the existence of the caliphate, if you mentioned that, or the existence of the Islamic state. We hear all these conditions often from the brothers, specifically the Salafis, and of course we are among them, praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds. Do these conditions have evidence from the Book and the Sunnah so that we can stand by them, or are these conditions merely pure independent legal reasoning regarding the current situation or the one we live in? And we want first to ask: do these conditions actually exist with you, so that we can discuss on that basis, or do they not exist with you, in which case the issue has turned into a different issue?

The Shaykh : First: We did not decide to meet with you so that you would ask us questions; rather, we decided to meet with you to learn about your call.
The student : Yes, I told you about my call.

The Shaykh : Okay, so define your call so that we can discuss it. After that, if such questions as you presented come to your mind, which are premature and can be researched, and as long as we have researched them, but you clarify your call: what is it?
The student : There is no... meaning, the call is clear: it is absolute jihad, meaning regardless of all these conditions that we hear. This is what we call for.

The Shaykh : Meaning, is there a difference between you and any individual Muslim, or is there no difference?
The student : No, there is no difference.
The student : He says that jihad is absolute and requires these two conditions in this era.

The Shaykh : You are not speaking about him, my brother. I want to understand something.
The student: Yes.

The Shaykh : Is he calling for something that a Muslim does not call for? Is there a disagreement that jihad is divided into two categories: an individual obligation, as is the current reality, and a collective obligation? Is there any Muslim who says that jihad is not obligatory? No one. So we want to understand the call you are calling for.
The student : There is nothing more than what I said.

The Shaykh : You have nothing more than what you said.
The student : No, there is not.

The Shaykh : Okay, what did you say?
The student : I said that jihad is absolute from these conditions, and that every condition, that every condition that is not in the Book of Allah is not a condition.

The Shaykh: All right.
The student : So those who condition screening and training...

The Shaykh : Okay, my brother, when you come to say these conditions... these conditions, you give your conditions, you speak about them.
The student : But only these are my conditions.

The Shaykh : What are your conditions?
The student : No, they are not conditions. The conditions that we see are those that were stipulated in the Book and the Sunnah when the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away.

The Shaykh : Where are the conditions you stipulate? Yes.
The student : (peace and blessings be upon him), meaning jihad in the path of Allah, so he said:
Whoever fought so that the Word of Allah is supreme, then he is in Allah's cause.
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1646Sahih (Darussalam)
, this is the first condition that validates the jihad, and the second condition: that this jihad be under the banner of Islam, as the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said in what is authentic from him in the hadith:
Whoever fights under a tribal banner, calling to a faction or being pleased with a faction or supporting a faction, and is killed; then his killing is a pre-Islamic age killing.
; so these two conditions are...

The Shaykh : Write them for me, by Allah, these two conditions you have, on a piece of paper.
The student : Sincerity of intention.
The student : Sincerity and under the banner of Islam.

The Shaykh : Sincerity is a condition in all acts of worship. What is the second condition?
The student : That it be under the banner of Islam, under the flag of Islam, meaning...

The Shaykh : Under the flag of Islam.
