How do we respond to those who say that the Tabligh Jama'ah is the group closest to the Salafi methodology, justifying this by claiming that they practice the Sunnah?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh: Yes.

The questioner : Peace be upon you and Allah's mercy.

The Shaykh : And upon you be peace and the mercy of Allah.

The questioner : How are you?The Shaykh ؟

The Shaykh : Praise be to Allah, I am well.

The questioner : May Allah keep you safe. We are a questioner from the UAE.

The Shaykh : From which part?

The questioner : From Sharjah.

The Shaykh : ... From Sharjah.

The questioner : We have a question that says: Shaykh, how do we respond to those who say that Tabligh is the group closest to the Salafi methodology, justifying this by claiming that they practice the Sunnah?

The Shaykh : They are ignorant of the Sunnah, so how can they practice it?

The questioner : Allah is the Helper.

The Shaykh : They are ignorant of the Sunnah, so how can they practice it? And their Shaykh who supports them from behind the walls and from across long, vast lands, while he is sitting in India, giving and taking pledges of allegiance from people to four Sufi paths—does he know the Sunnah? We always advise these people to go out for da'wah. They claim to sit in the mosques, reciting the Book of Allah, studying the hadith of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and learning the Sunnah in truth. Then, if Allah wills, they will be sincere in what they say. And peace be upon you.

The questioner : Shaykh, may Allah reward you with good. The one who says this is a Salafi and also a caller to Allah.

The Shaykh : No, the one who says this is not a Salafi.

The questioner : Allah is the Helper.

The Shaykh : This person is not a Salafi at all. If he is a Salafi, let him come and sit next to you, ask your question, and hear the answer I just gave you.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good.

The Shaykh : Perhaps you will do that.

The questioner : I cannot, Shaykh.

The Shaykh : Why?

The questioner : That action is difficult.

The Shaykh : Why?

The questioner : Because he is an old Shaykh.

The Shaykh : Who is he?

The questioner : The Shaykh : Abdullah al-Sabt.

The Shaykh : Abdullah al-Sabt.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : If he is an old Shaykh, I am older than him in age.

The questioner : Allah is the Helper.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : Allah is the Helper.

The Shaykh : Do you mean you cannot convey this statement to him?

The questioner : I cannot.

The Shaykh: Peace be upon you.

The questioner : And upon you be peace and the mercy of Allah.

The Shaykh : I seek refuge in Allah. Do you hear of Abdullah al-Sabt?
The student : I know him, yes. This man, sometimes he disagrees with the Salafis well, and sometimes he agrees with them. He sees the organization, he sees...

The Shaykh : ... about the two hadiths, this one.
