Explaining the obligation of understanding the word of tawhid (the oneness of Allah) according to the methodology of the Salaf, that it is the cause of the honor of the Muslims, and the danger of ignorance of it.

The Shaykh : Therefore, it is obligatory for you all to pay attention to understanding the word of tawhid (the oneness of Allah), upon which the entire knowledge of tawhid is built, based on what the righteous Salaf were upon, based on the Book and the Sunnah and the methodology of the righteous Salaf; so that when good news like what is before us now comes to us, we are worthy of it. As for the one who has something of shirk (associating partners with Allah) in his heart, and may Allah protect us from that, this good news does not benefit him; rather, none of his righteous deeds benefit him, as our Lord (Mighty and Majestic) said in the Qur'an regarding the mushrikin (those who associate partners with Allah); there is no favoritism with the Lord of the worlds; there is no difference between a mushrik who says "La ilaha illa Allah" with his tongue while faith has not entered his heart, and a Jew or a Christian or a Zoroastrian or an atheist; all of these are mushrikin, all of them fall under His saying (the Exalted): . Therefore, we praise Allah that He made us Muslims, even if by inheritance, but the complete praise is that we strive to gain knowledge of the religion, and the first of that, its foundation and its basis, is that we know this Islam which has become unknown to the masses of Muslims today. So it is no surprise that they become the most humble, fearing those who were previously the most humble of nations, and they cannot expel them from our lands; we do not say from their lands; the Muslims cannot expel these Jews from the lands of Islam; that is because this huge number of Muslims, which reaches eight hundred million or more, are as he (peace and blessings be upon him) said in the authentic hadith: . They said: "Are we few at that time, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: . Why is this large number like the foam of the flood?
The masses of Muslims, even the disbelievers, even the scholars, assume that the cause is only, I do not say that the cause is such and such, they assume that the cause is only the Muslims not acting upon their Islam. This is a cause, but the cause of causes is the Muslims not understanding their Islam. And this is the evidence before you: our masses today do not understand Islam; meaning: They have not understood them yet, except whom Allah wills, and they are few. How can we be arrogant and deny what we see with our eyes every day in many mosques? In fact, in many mosques there are those who are worshipped besides Allah, those who are called upon besides Allah. And this is the mother of mosques in the Levant, the Umayyad Mosque, in which is the alleged grave of Yahya (peace be upon him). To it are presented gifts in the name of vows, and to it are raised petitions and complaints. As if he were the god being worshipped, may Allah be exalted above what they do and what they say. And these people come to the mosque to pray in it, and Allah says: . Do not call upon, they call upon someone with Allah, they call upon Yahya.
Therefore, the Muslims today, as the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) described them in the previous hadith, are truly: . They said: "What is the weakness?" He said: . Love of this world and hatred of death are among the causes I mentioned earlier, but the cause of these causes is not understanding Islam in its first foundation; which is the testimony that there is no god but Allah. For that reason, we find the strange miracle that has never happened before, and I do not know if it can be imagined, which is that those who were the most misguided in knowledge, intellect, understanding, life, and so on, and the weakest of people because of that, became overnight the strongest of nations, the most honorable of nations, the most knowledgeable of nations, and the most intelligent of nations. And they are the ones who spread light and guidance in the regions of all nations; namely the first Arabs; that was when they were guided by this Islam and knew the true meaning of "La ilaha illa Allah," and submitted their hearts and minds to Allah. At that time, Allah supported them, and their hearts were purified from love of this world, and their hearts became filled and certain with love of death, not hatred of death. Therefore, when correct tawhid (the oneness of Allah) settles in a heart, love of this world and hatred of death come out of it, and in their place settles turning to Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He), either with a happy life or with martyrdom by which he meets the Face of Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He).
So when we read such a hadith, which is from the comprehensive words of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him and his family): , we must not pass by this Islam as the noble ones pass by, but we must stop at it and remember what is beneath this word of belief, if it settles in the heart of a Muslim; at that time, he can be satisfied and content with the sustenance that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) has provided him, which is just enough.
We ask Allah (Mighty and Majestic) to make us among those who were guided to Islam, and were given just enough sustenance, and were content with that from Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He).
