Rule: The default ruling for slaughtered animals is permissibility.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Now, a man brought meat, yes, he brought meat to a man, and someone present said to him: This meat is forbidden, it is not permissible to eat it. What should he say? He should say: Bring the evidence. If you bring evidence that this meat is forbidden, then there is no harm, otherwise the default ruling is permissibility. This is if the meat came from a person whose slaughter is permissible. However, if we are in a land of disbelief where the people do not have permissible slaughter, the default ruling is that this slaughter is forbidden, because the people of the land are among those whose slaughter is not permissible. Like whom? The Jews, their slaughter is permissible, and the Christians, their slaughter is permissible, yes. The polytheists who associate partners with Allah, such as the Zoroastrians, their slaughter is not permissible. The communists, their slaughter is not permissible. The apostates, such as one who does not pray, for example, his slaughter is not permissible.
The important point is if this meat comes from someone whose slaughter is permissible, and someone tells you: This meat is forbidden, because it was slaughtered in a manner other than the Islamic way, or because the slaughterer did not mention the name of Allah, you tell him: The default ruling, and what is the default ruling? Permissibility.
The important point for us now is four rules, may Allah reward you: acts of worship, transactions, actions, and if you wish, call them customs, and objects.
What is the default ruling for acts of worship? Prohibition and restriction, so nothing is prescribed except what Allah and His Messenger prescribed.
The default ruling for transactions is permissibility, so nothing is forbidden except what Allah and His Messenger forbade.
The default ruling for actions—the actions of the children of Adam other than acts of worship—is permissibility, until evidence is established for prohibition.
For objects that are benefited from, the default ruling is permissibility, such as foods, drinks, things to be chewed, things to be ridden, and things to be sat on. All of them have the default ruling of permissibility until evidence is established for prohibition.
