Discussion on the impossibility of seeing Allah (Mighty and Majestic) in this world.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : It is not possible—based on what appears from the texts of the Sunnah—for a person to see his Lord in this fleeting world. It is authentically narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in the long hadith of the Dajjal that when he described him to his Ummah, and that was part of his advice (peace be upon him) to his Ummah, part of his description of him was that he said:
He is blind in one eye, and your Lord is not blind in one eye
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2245Sahih (Darussalam)
, then he said (peace be upon him):
And none of you will see his Lord until he dies.
. He mentioned characteristics of the Dajjal so that the Muslim, if he is tested by his emergence in his time, can be certain that this is the Dajjal and not the God who is worshipped in truth. For Allah is perfect in all His attributes, whereas this one is one-eyed, and this is a sign. Another sign is that you see him,
And none of you will see his Lord until he dies.
; therefore, he (peace be upon him) said in explaining the rank of ihsan (excellence in worship):
To worship Allah as if you see Him
Sahih al-Bukhari 50
; because you will not see Him in this world. And we all know that Musa (peace be upon him), who was the one who spoke to the Most Merciful, when he asked his Lord (Mighty and Majestic) to see Him, He said:
You will not see Me, but look at the mountain; if it should remain in place, then you will see Me.
[Al-A'raf 7:143]
. And it is not established, even for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), that he saw his Lord with his own eyes. This is a matter, although it is a point of disagreement among the scholars of tawhid (the oneness of Allah) and the scholars of kalam (theology); the majority of them stated that a creed is not established except by a text that is definitive in its authenticity and definitive in its meaning. And we do not find a text that is based on conjecture, whether in its authenticity or its meaning, that establishes that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw his Lord on the night of the Isra (night journey) or on any other night. Therefore, it is not possible for a person to see his Lord until he dies, as he (peace be upon him) said.
