Is there an explanation for why he (peace and blessings be upon him) did not free "Maryam the Copt" and marry her?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : As for the second part of the question, which is his saying: Is there a legal reason for the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) not freeing her and marrying her?
It seems the questioner is asking: Why did the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) not treat "Maryam the Copt" as he treated his wife "Safiyyah"? It is established that he (peace be upon him) freed Safiyyah and made her freedom her mahr (bridal gift), and this is in "Sahih al-Bukhari and Muslim." So the questioner is asking: Is there a reason that clarifies and explains why he did not treat her as he (peace be upon him) treated Safiyyah? Why did he not free her and make her freedom her mahr?
I say, likewise: I do not know, but one of the clear reasons is that this demonstrates the permissibility of marrying a female slave who is not a free woman, and that it is not obligatory for a free man to free a female slave and marry her; rather, that is among the virtues of actions. The Messenger (may Allah's prayers and peace be upon him) combined, when he married Safiyyah and made her freedom her mahr, and when he married Maryam the Copt while she remained in slavery, the Messenger (may Allah's prayers and peace be upon him) combined in these two examples between clarifying what is better and clarifying what is permissible.
This is what appears to me in answering this tenth question.
The eleventh.

Eid Abbasi : We say: He married Maryam, or we say: He took her as a concubine?

The Shaykh : He took her as a concubine.

Eid Abbasi : ... .

The Shaykh : He means that taking a concubine is actually clear.
Yes.
