Explanation of the Book of Marriage-14

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : The author said: "Chapter on the Mahr:
Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
The Prophet (ﷺ) then set her free أنه أي: النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم أعتق صفية
Sunan Abi Dawud 2998Sahih (Al-Albani)
"
: He freed her, meaning: he liberated her from slavery. This is what is meant by 'itq' (freeing): liberating a neck from slavery is called 'itq'.
And this Safiyyah is the daughter of the leader of the Banu Nadir, Huyayy ibn Akhtab the Jew, and she is from the descendants of Aaron, the brother of Moses (peace be upon him). She was taken as a captive at Khaybar among the women who were taken, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) chose her for himself and selected her for himself. However, he (peace and blessings be upon him) chose her for himself not to satisfy desire or lust, but to mend the break that had occurred in her heart. Why?
Because she was the daughter of the master of the people, and she was captured. This is one of the greatest humiliations in that era, even up to our time. This is undoubtedly humiliation. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) wanted to choose her for himself. This is a favor. Then another favor: he freed her and made her one of the Mothers of the Believers. He freed her and married her. This is another favor upon her, indeed another favor that includes two favors. So these are three favors regarding Safiyyah:
The first favor is that he chose her for himself, the second is that he freed her, and the third is that he married her, so she thereby became one of the Mothers of the Believers. And this is his (peace and blessings be upon him) manner in marrying the women he married: that he considers the interests in that. Not personal, self-serving interests, but the most important thing for him (may Allah's prayers and peace be upon him) are the public interests, the public interests or those specific to the woman he married.
He says:
and made her freedom her mahr وجعل عتقها صداقها
So, is the freeing of a woman valid as a mahr, but only for her and not for another?
As a mahr for her, not for another. So if, for example, a woman was a friend of a concubine owned by a man, and a man proposed to a woman and he had a concubine, and the proposed woman said: "My mahr is that you free your concubine," and he freed her because of the friendship between them and his desire to free her, this is not valid. Because the freeing is now for someone other than the wife. And for whom is the freeing valid?
For the wife.
He freed her and made her freedom her mahr أعتقها وجعل عتقها صداقها
How did he say it? Meaning, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
I have freed you and made your freedom your mahr. أعتقتك وجعلت عتقك صداقك
or words to that effect. Yes.
