What do you say about the salary I receive, given that my job is based on this forged certificate? Is it lawful for me?
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : They come to the scholars and ask them, "What do you say about the salary I receive, given that my job is based on this forged certificate? Is it lawful for me?" A person may build his entire life on this salary; he may build a house with it, or marry a woman with it. People thus find themselves in a difficult situation. However, this difficulty will find a way out, if Allah wills. The point is that a person does not regret anything unless he awakens and realizes that he is on the wrong path. Furthermore, success achieved through forgery and deception is harmful to the entire community, because it produces graduates who are, in reality, naive and ignorant, despite the hopes placed in them after Allah the Exalted. They fail in every task entrusted to them, and people remain in continuous need of others. This is undoubtedly a harm to society at large. Therefore, it is obligatory to keep oneself away from it. As for the professors and supervisors, the professor must fear Allah the Exalted and know that when these answers are presented to him, he is in the position of a judge ruling between two or more parties. A judge must be just between the litigants; he must not favor a relative because of his kinship, a rich person because of his wealth, a poor person because of his poverty, a noble person because of his lineage, or a lowly person because of his low status. All the papers presented to him are equal. It is not permissible to prefer one person over another. Whoever deserves the grade has the right to it, and whoever does not deserve it loses that right. He should not say, "By Allah, this student is ill-mannered, so I will deduct points from his grade." This is not permissible. If a student is ill-mannered, he may be punished with a different penalty, but the academic subject matter must not be reduced in grade because of a lack of good character or pleasant conduct. A lack of good character and pleasant conduct has a separate penalty. A person must be given what he deserves for the academic subject matter. The supervisor who monitors the students must also be cautious and aware, because, unfortunately, students have methods of deception and cheating. I do not wish to mention them here for fear that someone might pick them up and practice them, but they are well-known methods. Let the supervisor beware of these methods and be vigilant.
