Is it true that it is said that America wanted to enter Kuwait before Iraq?

The questioner : We heard, O Shaykh, that the American forces were heading to the Gulf before Iraq entered. What is the truth of that?

The Shaykh : These are rumors spread by some of the eloquent to justify what Iraq did. It may be the case, and it may not be. We are unable to verify a report, especially in a time like this, a time of war and bombing. If the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), who forbade lying, said: then the disbelievers, who do not forbid or permit as Allah the Exalted said: If the wise Shari'ah, which does not forbid anything except for a wisdom and does not permit anything except for a wisdom, said: then it is all the more likely that these disbelievers lie even when there is no war, in the context of what is called the war of nerves or the media war or the like. So, if we assume that this report was true and the Americans wanted to occupy Kuwait, is it from Islam to occupy a Muslim people and a Muslim state that professes Islam because a disbeliever wants to occupy this Islamic land? Or is it obligatory to stand against the one who wants to occupy it? Is that clear? I mean, if it were true that the Americans wanted to occupy Kuwait, it would be the duty of Iraq and the duty of all states to prevent them with whatever weapons and power they have. But the truth is, Allah knows best about the veracity of these reports.
