The hadith of the girl to whom the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) asked, "Where is Allah?" and she replied, "In the sky"

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : The point at hand is that he said: "O Messenger of Allah, I have a slave girl who tends my sheep in one of the Fustat. One day, a wolf attacked my sheep, and I am a human being who gets angry as other humans do, so I struck her a blow, and I am obligated to free a slave. It is as if he is saying, 'I admit that I made a mistake with this slave girl who was tending my sheep. What was she supposed to do with her hand against a wolf? A man might flee from a wolf, let alone a woman!' And I am obligated to free a slave. Will it suffice for me to free her?" He said:
Bring her. هاتها
When she came, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said to her:
Where is Allah? أين الله ؟
She said: "In the sky." He said to her:
Who am I? من أنا ؟
She said: "You are the Messenger of Allah." He said:
Set her free, for she is a believer. اعتقها فإنها مؤمنة
Now we ask these enthusiasts who are eager to establish the Muslim state: Have you mastered the creed of the girl who tended the sheep? No. They deny this creed, and they hold to the view of the theologians of the Mu'tazilah that Allah is not above, not below, not to the right, not to the left, not in front, not behind, not inside the world, and not outside it. These are people who have lost their Lord...
