Mentioning the hadiths warning against introducing innovations in religion. (Discussion of the Sermon of Necessity)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : The evidence that the scholars relied upon and based their establishment of this condition on, so that the work would be valid, is the first condition. The evidence indicating this is abundant and very abundant. Among the most famous of it is what you heard just now in my sermon for this session. This sermon is also one of the matters that people have neglected. I do not mean all Muslims and the majority of them, but rather I mean the Muslims specifically. You hardly hear a lesson, lecture, or guidance, whether it is delivered directly, via broadcast, or by any other means, where you hardly hear anyone opening his sermon, lesson, or research with what you heard just now:
Al-hamdu lillahi nahmadhu wa nasta`inuhu wa nastaghfiruhu
Sunan Ibn Majah 1892
to the end of that. And in it, the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) says:
The worst of things are those that are newly invented; every newly-invented thing is an innovation and every innovation is going astray, and every going astray is in the Fire.
Sunan an-Nasa'i 1578Sahih (Darussalam)
We must pay attention to this sermon, we who claim that we want to be guides for people, calling them to follow the Book and the Sunnah and to righteous work. Yet we begin by contradicting this Sunnah in our first lessons. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) used to deliver this sermon to the Companions, and it is called the Sermon of Necessity. Some of them may use it on the occasion of a marriage contract, but its place is in every sermon and every lesson where the teacher hopes to reach the necessity he seeks in his lesson, which is that the people benefit from what they hear from him. Those present : The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) used to open his entire sermons and all his lessons with this sermon, which is known among the scholars as the Sermon of Necessity. He would repeat this speech in this sermon to establish it in the minds of the Companions, and they in turn would transmit it to those after them:
As for what follows, the best of guidance is the guidance of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him and his family).
And in a narration:
The best of guidance is the guidance of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), and the worst of matters are their innovations, and every innovation is a religious innovation, and every religious innovation is misguidance, and every misguidance is in the Fire.
As-Sunan al-Kubra lil-Nasa'i 8:33
The reliable scholars say: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) used to repeat this sermon on every occasion to establish this great principle in the minds of the listeners:
every innovation is going astray, and every going astray is in the Fire
Sunan an-Nasa'i 1578Sahih (Darussalam)
