The Shaykh’s mention of the virtue of Hassan al-Banna for the Muslim youth.

The Shaykh : Then, we always speak regarding Hassan al-Banna (may Allah have mercy on him). I say, before my brothers, our Salafi brothers, and before all Muslims: If Hassan al-Banna (may Allah have mercy on him) had no virtue for the Muslim youth other than that he took them out of the role of entertainment venues, cinemas, and the like, and cafes, and gathered them and united them on one call, namely the call of Islam, then if this were his only virtue, it would suffice him in virtue and honor. We say this believing, not showing off or being hypocritical, but at the same time, we see some of those who claim affiliation with the Muslim Brotherhood—and I do not say all of them—that they deviate from the call of Hassan al-Banna himself. This is because I also believe that among the virtues of Hassan al-Banna is that his call, as he stated in some of his books and letters, is also based on the Book and the Sunnah. Although I believe that this was the foundation and basis he established, no one from the Muslim Brotherhood themselves has stood up to simplify and detail this foundation that Hassan al-Banna (may Allah have mercy on him) established. So I say that Hassan al-Banna served the Salafi call with this foundation he established, because every man, every young man from the Muslim Brotherhood who read this call, when he hears something of its details from a man who may not be politically affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood, it is enough for him that this general brotherhood unites him with them: [Al-Hujurat 49:10]. We find, among the Muslim youth, a response to the Salafi call from the Muslim Brotherhood, unlike the other Islamic parties. Because in reality, and I recently said this to some people, wondering at the hostility of these people, or some of them, toward us and our call, I am amazed. I say, Glory be to Allah, Allah the Exalted has appointed me to serve the call whose foundation and basis Hassan al-Banna himself established. I served it by detailing some of its aspects. Otherwise, the complete and comprehensive detailing, in my belief, cannot be accomplished by anyone but a large group of scholars and specialists in the sciences of the Book and the Sunnah from various Islamic countries. So I am surprised when we find opposition and contradiction from some individuals who claim affiliation with the Muslim Brotherhood. I am a man accustomed to frankness, and I do not know, if Allah wills, the meaning of hypocrisy. I lived in Damascus for all this period, and there were not these rumors that we hear, and I am in this country, Jordan, and in Amman in particular. We lived with the Muslim Brotherhood when they had their public presence, and after that as well, as we mentioned to you, they attend our lessons and participate in our Eid prayer, and so on.
