The Shaykh’s call to all groups to form an alliance and unite

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : And I say, and I hope that all Islamic groups say what I say: I say that the Muslim Brothers cannot fulfill the obligation of Islam on their own, nor can the Salafis, nor can the Tahrir Party, nor can the Youth of Muhammad, nor whatever other Islamic associations there are. I believe these groups’ existence is necessary, because no single one of them can fulfill every obligation that Islam imposes on the Islamic community. Rather, these groups must each fulfill their own obligation, but with one condition: that they all be within one circle, agreeing on the foundations and the rules from which they should proceed so that they may understand one another and draw closer together.
There is no doubt that there is no conflict regarding material matters or crafts—for example, between a blacksmith and a carpenter and a plasterer and so on—and the group of blacksmiths cannot perform the function of the carpenters and the like. But if these people are hostile to one another and at war with one another, they cannot build a building, a palace, or the like.
And it is even more fitting that they build this grand palace, which is the establishment of Islamic rule and the Islamic state. I am certain that neither the Salafis alone can do it, nor the Muslim Brothers alone, nor any number of groups and parties you can name. Rather, if these groups unite in one circle and cooperate, each within the scope of his specialty, then at that time the believers will rejoice in the victory of Allah. Accordingly, we are proceeding without opposing any sect or group among the Islamic groups at all, because every group, as I stated earlier, completes the deficiency that exists in the other group.
This is how I believe the relationships between the Islamic groups should be with one another, and what we see—regrettably—is the opposite of this obligation upon which the Islamic groups should agree.
So the Muslim Brothers, about whom the question was directed regarding our stance toward them, treat us differently than we treat them. We appreciate their efforts as a group calling for the unity of Muslims and their gathering in the face of the calamities and events that befall the Muslims. And although, as I said earlier, they alone are not sufficient to fulfill this obligation, the other groups must be with them. Instead of each of the Salafi and Muslim Brother groups completing the other, we find that the Muslim Brothers, I mean specifically, I can say in this Jordanian country,

The questioner: Peace be upon you.

The Shaykh: And upon you peace.
are the ones spreading hostility and hatred between the Salafis and the Muslim Brothers. I wish this matter had stopped at the level of individuals and persons who have no weight in the Muslim Brothers. Every group, what shall we say? The Companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) included, as some of the old jurists say, the Bedouin who urinated behind him, and they included the great Companions like the Caliphs, the Companions, and others. So it is even more fitting that there be such a Bedouin in every group, whether they are Salafis or Muslim Brothers or others. So I say: I wish that the rumors that increase the division between the two groups came from ordinary individuals of the Muslim Brothers, for then the matter would be easy.
But the reality is that the matter has extended to some of their officials, or as they call them, some of their leaders. They, for example, utter the many sayings that you have heard, which compelled you to direct such a direct question. Some of their leaders have written in some of their works what makes the one who reads this writing feel that the leaders themselves look at the Salafis with a look of, I do not say lack of appreciation, but contempt and disdain. If the matter had stopped at the tongues of some individuals, the matter would have been light. We find the opposite of what we believe the senior Muslim Brothers also believe, namely, what we believe regarding the importance of the Salafi call and its necessity for this Islamic society, especially today; and that the Islamic groups cannot stand except on the basis of the Book and the Sunnah. We know the senior Muslim Brothers, they are with us, but here the reality is the opposite.
