The Shaykh’s warning about the fabricated hadith: “Adopt the character of Allah”

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : On this occasion, I would like to remind you of a famous hadith that is mentioned in some books but has no basis. However, it is related to the meaning we are discussing. The wording of this hadith is “Adopt the character of Allah”, “Adopt the character of Allah”. This is a hadith with no basis; that is, it was not narrated from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in any way, not even with a fabricated chain. It only became famous in later times that the Messenger (peace be upon him) said
Adopt the character of Allah تخلقوا بأخلاق الله
. But is there any validity in meaning for this hadith that has no basis, as a report from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)? Can it be said to a person, “Adopt the character of Allah”? The answer is that it is possible regarding most of the attributes of Allah (Mighty and Majestic), but it is not possible, and indeed it is not permissible in the Shari'ah, for a created being to adopt any of the specific attributes of Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He). For example, one of His attributes is that He is the Compeller (al-Jabbar). It is not permissible for a Muslim to adopt the attribute of compulsion (jabrut), because the attribute of compulsion is an attribute befitting Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He), the Creator.
Therefore, it came in some of the Qudsi hadiths that whoever is arrogant and haughty, Allah (Mighty and Majestic) will crush him, because majesty and compulsion are among the attributes of Allah (Mighty and Majestic). But if we come to the attribute of patience, or the attribute of forbearance, then here it is said, “Adopt these divine qualities,” but to the extent of one’s ability, to the extent that is compatible with human nature.
In this point, namely that a human being is unable to approximate or imitate the patience of Allah (Mighty and Majestic).
