You mentioned that it is not permissible to rebel against a rebellious ruler; so what is your comment on those who accuse you of permitting rebellion against the original ruler?

Al-Halabi: Shaykh, - also - in your current speech there is a reference - what Allah willed, Blessed and Exalted is He - to another issue - also - that was among what was in our minds; we ask Allah to bless you and preserve you for the Ummah. You mentioned, Shaykh, that it is not befitting to rebel against the rebellious one because of the matters that follow from it, which you mentioned; so what about those who mention the permissibility of rebelling against one who is not rebellious and attribute that to you? This is undoubtedly from misguidance and from speaking falsely about the people of knowledge.

The Shaykh: The example of these people is like the example of one who forbids the Muslims from prayer, citing the saying of the Exalted: and then does not complete the verse that follows it: , or reads the saying of the Exalted: . Our speech is very clear in many of our books, comments, and tapes, indeed in our combat against the callers to rebellion. There was, meaning, an article recently published in some newspapers regarding the refutation of the group of Takfir and the group of rebellion against the Imams. These people are truly those of new dreams who have no knowledge and no jurisprudence, and - unfortunately - I fear that the saying of the Exalted will apply to them: ; that is because they looked at some hadiths and some statements, then imagined that they had become scholars, indeed from the great scholars, and indeed they refute those whom the Ummah testifies are truly from the great scholars, while they do not know but fragments of knowledge, and they cannot apply the principles to the branches. Therefore, in my belief, it is not befitting for us to waste our time on these people who intentionally lie and fabricate against those who are concerned with guiding the Muslims to act according to the Book and the Sunnah and the methodology of the righteous Salaf. For this reason, we say: this is, meaning, a false call, and I have no need to expand on the refutation of people like these; for what is written in my writings and on my tapes is sufficient in refuting these people. And some of our brothers - also - have - may Allah reward them with good - engaged in refuting them, and sufficient for the believers is Allah in fighting.
