The Shaykh’s citation of another hadith narrated by Muslim in his Sahih, which contains the phrase “Why do I see you in a state of neglect?”

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : This hadith is further supported in terms of its content, which encourages gathering people in the assembly and forbids them from dispersing within it, by another hadith narrated by Imam Muslim in his Sahih. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) entered the mosque and found them dispersed within it, so he said to them (peace and blessings be upon him):
How is it that I see you in separate groups? ما لي أراكم عزين
Sunan Abi Dawud 4823Sahih (Al-Albani)
. Likewise, we understand from this hadith that dispersing in the mosque is also not prescribed; rather, it is even more imperative that it is not prescribed. They should gather together and be concerned with listening to knowledge and good admonition. The prohibition by the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) of this dispersing is linked to that principle we mentioned, that Islam is concerned with rectifying the outward appearance just as it is concerned with rectifying the inward state, because each is closely linked to the other with a connection that cannot be severed.
