The Shaykh : Therefore, I recently pointed out that I advise students of knowledge to study the two sciences of principles: the principles of hadith and the principles of jurisprudence. I gave some examples there to show that it is not easy for a person to understand the intent of the Wise Lawgiver in a specific text unless he has grasped as much as possible of the texts from the Book and the Sunnah. I gave a clear example in this regard, such as the saying of Allah the Exalted: [Al-Ma'idah 5:3] If a beginner in the study of the Qur'an, who has no knowledge of the hadith of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), were asked whether the carrion of fish is permissible, he would rush to argue with this verse, and the verse is explicit in prohibition: [Al-Ma'idah 5:3] This fish is carrion, so it is forbidden by the text of the Qur'an. However, if he had looked into the hadith, he would then say: Allah has spoken the truth in forbidding carrion, but the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) clarified that a type of carrion is limited to two kinds of animals, namely fish and locusts, which are excluded from this Qur'anic text. At that point, he would be correct in his ruling to exclude these two types of carrion from the prohibition of the Noble Qur'an regarding carrion. This is an example, and the research naturally has many branches. I have researched this to remind people of the necessity of studying the sciences that help the student of knowledge to understand the Book and the Sunnah as close to the truth as possible.
