Does one who prays in a row broken by a pillar or pulpit commit a sin, knowing that it may be the first row?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Eid Abbasi : Does one who prays in a row broken by a pulpit or other pillars commit a sin? What is the evidence for this? And upon whom does the sin fall? Knowing that the row may be the first row, which carries additional merit?

The Shaykh : The first row, what is it?

Eid Abbasi : I mean the one for which merit has been mentioned.

The Shaykh : Yes, the Messenger (peace be upon him) said in an authentic hadith:
Whoever completes a row, may Allah be generous to him, and whoever cuts a row, may Allah cut him off. مَن وصل صفًّا وَصَلَه الله ، ومَن قطع صفًّا قَطَعَه الله
Sunan an-Nasa'i 819Hasan (Darussalam)
, and this hadith is explicit in its indication; because breaking a row is a sin; therefore, the Muslim should not break a row with his person, nor should he adopt the means that break the row. As for the first point of my speech regarding his person, it is clear that the row is not complete, so you leave it and make a second row; this is well known, and this is not permissible as is clear. But regarding not adopting the means, this has many forms; if one is, for example, an architectural engineer who does not plan a mosque with a long pulpit that breaks the first row and perhaps the second, then he is included in the previous hadith:
and whoever cuts a row, may Allah cut him off. ومن قطعَ صفًّا قطعَه الله
Sunan an-Nasa'i 819Hasan (Darussalam)
; because he caused the breaking of the row, indeed more than one row.
Likewise, this engineer must plan today, in my opinion, to build mosques without pillars "supports"; because they break the rows as is observed, and modern engineering today, as I have seen in some Western countries and also heard, facilitates building the largest mosque without any support in the middle of the mosque. Of course, I am not an engineer to explain this to you, and we do not need that, but this is practically possible. And if we assume that we are in a country where there are no such architects or engineers, then the planning of the mosque regarding the placement of pillars must observe that they are behind the row, and that the people in the row are not forced to line up on either side of the support or pillar; all of this is taken from his saying:
Whoever completes a row, may Allah be generous to him, and whoever cuts a row, may Allah cut him off. مَن وصل صفًّا وصلَه الله ، ومن قطعَ صفًّا قطعَه الله
Sunan an-Nasa'i 819Hasan (Darussalam)
; so the one who plans to build a mosque without a support is included in the first part of the hadith:
Whoever completes a row, may Allah be generous to him مَن وصل صفًّا وصلَه الله
Sunan an-Nasa'i 819Hasan (Darussalam)
; because there is no longer a row in the mosque that is forced to be broken, and the opposite is the opposite; except for one who is heedless and does not have the knowledge; perhaps that may be an excuse for him with Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He).
So whoever enters a mosque that has one of these unjust, oppressive pulpits that were built in disobedience to Allah and His Messenger and contrary to His Sunnah in his pulpit; then he must try to pray in the first row to the left of the pulpit; and not line up to the right of the pulpit; because this row is broken. And if the row is complete, let him make a second and third row if the situation requires it; so that the row connects from right to left. And this is the preservation of this Sunnah, which is the reason for not exposing the prayer of those lining up like this to invalidity at times, even if that occurs rarely.
