The Shaykh’s explanation that following the imam is one of the means of bringing Muslims closer together in their differences.

The Shaykh : Therefore, I consider this issue to be one of the greatest matters that the Wise Lawgiver has legislated to bring about reconciliation among the many differences between Muslims. When the one who follows a scholar without knowing his evidence sees that you are praying behind him, he will first notice why he is praying behind you, and second, he will follow you. Then, when he leads people in prayer as an imam, will he go back to praying as he believes? He will realize that all of this is among the effects of the Sunnah. In fact, I adopt this issue.
