Following the Imam in the House Adjacent to the Mosque

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 19767 )
Q: I live in a villa adjacent to the mosque on the southern side,
And we have designated the annex located in the courtyard adjacent to the mosque for me to perform the obligatory prayers and the tarawih prayers in, along with the women who attend with me, following the imam of the mosque, where we hear his voice through the loudspeaker. We have also arranged a speaker from the mosque to the home via a wire extended to it, and I often pray alone inside the courtyard, following the imam whose voice I hear through the loudspeaker. My question, O honorable Shaykh: Is my prayer alone, following the imam, permissible, whether inside the courtyard or in the annex adjacent to the mosque? Some people have made me doubt the validity of this, so I ask you to issue a ruling on this, may Allah reward you and multiply your reward.

A : Your prayer with the imam of the mosque in the manner described is not valid unless you see the imam or see some of those behind him; because your place of prayer is outside the mosque, so following him is not valid except with the condition we mentioned. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
