The Shaykh's explanation that when a camel is standing, it has its hands and legs on the ground, so how can it be said that when it kneels, the first thing it places on the ground is its hands.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : He says that the camel places its hands first. We always remember the observed reality, always and forever, that the camel, like all four-legged animals, walks on four legs. It is not conceivable to compare it to a human, or to compare it to a human. A human walks on two legs, whereas a camel walks on four. Therefore, his statement that the first thing a camel places when it kneels is its hands—there is a leap here, or a lapse, because we ask: when the camel walks, is it not placing its legs? Of course, no one says it is not placing its legs; it is placing its legs.
Now, does it walk without placing its hands? The answer is the same: it walks with its hands and legs placed, so it walks on four.
Therefore, to be alert to this strange and wondrous error, we must prepare to answer a very simple question, yet most people are heedless of the correct answer to it. When a camel kneels, what is the first part of its body that receives the ground? It is not correct to say its hands, because its hands are placed just like its legs. So, what is the first thing the camel uses to receive the ground when it prostrates, when it kneels? The knees. It is not correct to say the hands, as Ibn al-Qayyim says, that the first thing a camel places when it kneels is its hands. This is a mistake, because it has them placed from the day it falls from its mother's belly; it falls on four legs, it does not lean to the right or the left, and then it walks like this, so it walks on four legs. How can it be said that the first thing it places when it kneels is its hands, when they are already placed? So, the correct answer is that when a camel kneels, the first thing it places—and we do not say its knees here, because there is a discussion from the same author, and we will discuss that with him.
