Among the objectives and principles brought by Islam is the prohibition of imitating the disbelievers, and the wisdom behind that.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Therefore, Islam, among the objectives and principles it brought, prohibited Muslims from imitating the disbelievers. This is because imitation is a cause for the loss of the community's identity and its blurring into the identity of another community. As long as the hadiths from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) have come in succession with various and diverse expressions, all of which lead to one reality: namely, preserve your Muslim identity and do not imitate the disbelievers in any of their traditions or customs. I do not intend to go into detail on this as one of those principles I alluded to earlier; for I had spoken with some detail about that in my book "The Covering of the Muslim Woman in the Book and the Sunnah."
