The Shaykh’s use of the hadith of the one who prays poorly to prove the obligation of knowledge before action and conveying the message; they do not care about knowledge

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : And the hadith of the one who prays poorly, perhaps you remember it, and it is in Sahih al-Bukhari. A man came to the mosque while the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was sitting in a corner of it. He prayed, then he came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "Peace be upon you, O Messenger of Allah." He said:
And upon you be peace. Return and pray, for you have not prayed.
So the man returned.

The questioner : ... three times.

The Shaykh : Well done. In the end, it becomes clear that the man does not know how to pray, so he admits it, saying, "By Allah, O Messenger of Allah, I do not know how to do it other than this, so teach me." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
When you stand for prayer, perform ablution as Allah has commanded you, then face the qiblah, then say takbir, then recite what is easy of the Qur'an, then bow until you are tranquil while bowing, then rise until you are tranquil while standing, then prostrate until you are tranquil while prostrating, then rise until you are tranquil while sitting, then prostrate until you are tranquil while prostrating, then do that in all your prayer. If you complete that, your prayer is complete. And if you diminish from that, you have diminished from your prayer.
How many are there who pray but have no prayer? What concerns us is not that we have moved someone from abandoning prayer to a prayer that is not a prayer. We must move him to a prayer that is accepted by Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He). How do we know if this prayer is accepted or not? From the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). If we do not study the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah, we will not find guidance for that. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
I have left with you two matters.
Just two things:
You will not go astray as long as you hold fast to them, the Book of Allah and my Sunnah
If they want to pray as the Messenger used to pray, they must know the Sunnah of the Messenger in his prayer. If they want to perform Hajj as the Messenger performed it, they must know the manner of the Messenger’s Hajj, and so on.
As for "take my hand and walk with the people," this is not conveying the message, this is not Islam. This is the custom of the people, as the common people say, "O people, follow the people." No, it is not like that. We were commanded:
Follow the best that has been revealed to you from your Lord, and do not take besides Him any protectors. Little do you remember.
the best of what was revealed to you from your Lord
[Az-Zumar 39:55]
And Allah, it is sufficient for us that we follow what is good. As for what is better, that requires people, meaning those above, many, many. But the first of the rain is a drop, then it pours down. So we teach people the prayer that is valid, and after that we command them with the things that if a Muslim neglects them, he has not neglected the prayer. For example, this tranquility in bowing and prostration and between them is a pillar of the pillars of prayer. But humility in prayer is not a pillar, yet our Lord praised those who are humble:
(1) Certainly will the believers have succeeded: (2) They who are during their prayer humbly submissive
[Al-Mu'minun 23:1-2]
and so on. So we want now for a person to pray and not be told, as He (peace and blessings be upon him) said to the one who prays poorly:
Go back and pray, for you have not prayed.
After that, we move him to, "My brother, you must be humble in prayer, you must reflect on what you recite from the Book of Allah," and so on.
In summary, my brother, we are talking about knowledge, and no offense, and we are not accusing a Muslim, we are not accusing millions of them, but we are talking about insight, and religion is advice. Therefore, we say to them: Teach, then convey. As for the opposite, this is not permissible.
