The Shaykh : Chapter One: Ahad Reports.
Those who say that ahad reports do not establish creed also say at the same time that legal rulings are established by ahad reports. Thus, they have distinguished between creed and legal rulings regarding hadith. You will not find this distinction in the preceding texts from the Book and the Sunnah. No, rather, by their generality and comprehensiveness, they include creed as well and obligate following him (peace and blessings be upon him) in it, because it is undoubtedly included in the command of Allah the Exalted in the verse:[Al-Ahzab 33:36] And so is His command to obey him (peace and blessings be upon him), the prohibition of disobeying him, the warning against contradicting him, and His praise of the believers who say, when called to judge by Allah and His Messenger, "We hear and we obey." All of this indicates the obligation of obeying and following him in creed, just as it is obligatory to follow him in legal rulings.
And His saying, the Exalted: Since "what" is a word of generality and comprehensiveness, as is well known. If you were to ask these people, who claim the obligation of taking ahad reports in legal rulings but not in creed, for the evidence for this, they would argue with these aforementioned verses and others we have not mentioned for the sake of brevity. So what led them to exclude creed from the obligation of taking it, when it is included in the generality of the verses?

It is not for a believing man or a believing woman, when Allah and His Messenger have decided a matter, that they should [thereafter] have any choice about their affair
