Explanation of his saying: "For it is the last of a man's earnings."

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Therefore, this noble Companion also bequeaths to his sons and children this will, saying: "And beware of asking people for things; for it is the last of a man's earnings."
Regarding asking people, he says: "It is the last of a man's earnings." He indicates that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade "begging"; asking people for money, "Give me a qirsh, give me a lira," and so on. There are details, of course, in the books of hadith and jurisprudence, the summary of which is that asking without dire necessity makes the face of its owner disfigured on the Day of Resurrection, the most severe disfigurement; for he will come with his face covered in scratches and wounds... Arabic expressions meaning that he will come with various types of impacts, blows, and scratches on his face. Why? Because he used to ask people without feeling shy, and he was not in need of asking. Therefore, it is not permissible for a person to ask people for anything unless he does not have the food for a day and a night. From this, we know that the begging known today is forbidden in the religion of Islam. It is not permissible for its practitioners to engage in this profession on one hand, and it is not permissible for people to give to them on the other hand; because they are helping them in this profession, which is abominable in the Shari'ah. Therefore, he bequeaths to his children that they should not ask people at all; because asking them for money is the last of a man's earnings; meaning a man who is about to die of hunger, having no food for a day and a night, and having children; at that time, he asks people. This is the last resort. So he wants his children to be noble, to be honorable, to be people of high ambition and the like, and he does not want them to degrade themselves by asking people for their money.
