Explaining the severity of division in the circle of knowledge and the lack of closeness therein, and explaining that the rectitude of the outward is part of the rectitude of the inward, and explaining that it is incumbent upon Muslims not to

The Shaykh : When we used to travel with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and we would stop at a place, we would scatter in the valleys and gorges. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Your scattering in the valleys and gorges is from the work of Satan
So after that, when we would stop at a place, we would gather together until if we had sat on a single carpet, it would have been enough for us. This is a legal and psychological reality at the same time, because the Shari'ah has emphasized in more than one text that the rectitude of the outward is by the rectitude of the inward, and its corruption is by the corruption of the inward, and the rectitude of the inward is the rectitude of the outward, and the corruption of the inward is... the corruption of the outward. This means that there is an interaction between the outward and the inward, each strengthening the other in rectitude and in corruption. And when the scholars say "The outward is the title of the inward", they mean this reality.
This is what came in many hadiths, among which is the famous hadith recorded in the two Sahihs from the hadith of al-Nu'man ibn Bashir (may Allah be pleased with them both), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
What is lawful is clear and what is unlawful is clear, but between them are certain doubtful things
Sunan Abi Dawud 3329Sahih (Al-Albani)
.
Do not forget to pray the greeting, O Master. Did you pray the greeting? Well done.
And between them are matters of doubt about which many people do not have knowledge. So whoever avoids the doubtful matters has protected his religion and his honor. And know that for every king is a forbidden area, and know that the forbidden area of Allah is His prohibitions. And whoever goes around the forbidden area is likely to fall into it. And know that in the body is a morsel, if it is sound, the whole body is sound, and if it is corrupt, the whole body is corrupt. And it is the heart
So if the heart is sound, the body is sound, and the reverse is the reverse. From here, the scholars said "The outward is the title of the inward". Likewise, it was from the conduct and Sunnah of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) that when he stood for prayer, he would order the straightening of the rows, and on many occasions he would say:
Do not be irregular
Sunan Abi Dawud 663Sahih (Al-Albani)
Straighten your rows.
If you do not do so, Allah will strike the hearts of some of you against others. That is, this difference in the outward in straightening the rows was a cause for difference in the inward. From this same door is the hadith of Abu Thalhah al-Khushani that the Messenger (peace be upon him) said to them:
Your scattering in the valleys and gorges is from the work of Satan
And this is... where... they? In the wilderness in the...? So how about us when we sit for dhikr and knowledge, it is not fitting for us to sit like this, as...
And upon you be peace, and Allah's mercy and blessings.
As came in Sahih Muslim that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) entered upon the Companions in the mosque one day and saw them scattered, so he said to them:
How is it that I see you in separate groups?
Sunan Abi Dawud 4823Sahih (Al-Albani)
So this scattering, even if it is only with the bodies, indicates scattering in the hearts and minds. So if we distance ourselves from the scattering that the Wise Lawgiver forbade, even in the outward.

The questioner : Peace be upon you.

The Shaykh : And upon you be peace, and Allah's mercy and blessings.
If we distance ourselves from the scattering in the outward that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade, that is among the strongest causes for creating agreement in the inward. Therefore, it is not befitting for Muslims to belittle the Islamic legal etiquettes which some people today describe as formal, trivial matters of no value. Indeed, these outward matters which are described as trivial and formal have a status in the Islamic Shari'ah, and some express them as being husks. It is obligatory for the Muslim to care for the kernel of matters, and these people either neglect or feign to neglect that the kernel which Allah creates directly without any effort or obligation from the human being, He creates it and around it is that husk to preserve it and keep it safe from the afflictions that may cross the path of its life. This is in material matters, and likewise in religious and spiritual matters. That is, these matters which are called formal and husk-like matters are also among the matters that must be held onto, because by them we are able to preserve what they call the kernel. The husk should not be belittled without the kernel, for Allah (Mighty and Majestic) has legislated this and legislated this. He legislated the kernel because it is the foundation, and He legislated the husk, in their expression, to preserve this kernel.
Gathering in the circle is among these matters which the Messenger (peace be upon him) encouraged in his previous saying:
Your scattering in the gorges and valleys is from the work of Satan
So scattering in the lesson and distancing oneself from the teacher is not from Islam, it is not from the etiquettes that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) legislated. And thus was his conduct (peace and blessings be upon him) when he sat among his Companions, he was hardly distinguished and hardly recognized as the chosen Messenger among us all. And you all know that the Bedouin would enter the circle or the mosque and say: Which of you is Muhammad? (peace and blessings be upon him). That was due to the closeness of some of them to others and the fact that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) was not distinguished by anything over his brothers from the noble Companions.
This is a word before that scattering and distancing of some of us from others.
