What is the ruling on saying (Every year and may you be well)?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner: Peace be upon you.

The Shaykh : And upon you be peace and the mercy of Allah.

The questioner: Every year and may you be well.

The Shaykh: And who is it that has abandoned it?

The questioner: I don't know what I want to say.

The Shaykh: You don't know? Say whatever comes to your hand, as long as people have not become accustomed to it and it has no basis in the Sunnah, leave it. Say "Blessed month" and "May Allah look upon us with favor regarding fasting, standing in prayer, and piety," and so on. As for adopting a specific phrase every year, "Every year and may you be well," this has no basis in the Islamic Shari'ah, and this is used in all religions; there is no difference between a Jew, a Christian, and a Muslim.

The Shaykh: What do you have besides that?
