What is the ruling on fasting for one who eats something that is not food?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Regarding eating something that is not food?

The Shaykh : The speech was not completed.

The questioner : Excuse me, this brotherAbu Layla : May Allah guide him. A man ate something other than food, like a leaf, for example?

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : What is the ruling on his fast?

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : I do not imagine this situation. If it were to happen, the one who ate the paper must have a purpose, and he is doing what goats do when they eat paper. So he must have a purpose, and there is no doubt about that. It is as if he ate any other thing.

The questioner : As if he ate any other thing.

The Shaykh : Yes, exactly.

The questioner : Meaning, like food.

The Shaykh: Yes.

The questioner : Yes. So, O our Shaykh, is a pill the same ruling?

The Shaykh : A pill?

The questioner : Yes, like aspirin, for example, for headaches.

The Shaykh : Do you mean swallowing it?

The questioner : Swallowing it.

The Shaykh : The same ruling.

The questioner : The same ruling. May Allah reward you with good.

The Shaykh : And you as well.
Peace be upon you and Allah's mercy.

The questioner : And upon you be peace and Allah's mercy and blessings.
