What is the ruling on fasting the first ten days of Dhu al-Hijjah?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : May Allah reward you with good, O Shaykh: Is there a hadith regarding the virtue of fasting the days of Hajj for one who is not performing Hajj?

The Shaykh : Yes, on the Day of 'Arafah. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said regarding its fasting:
I hope from Allah, expiates for the sins of the year before and the year after. أحتسب على الله أن يكفر السنة التي قبله والتي بعده
Sunan Ibn Majah 1730Sahih (Darussalam)
This is the Day of 'Arafah.
The entire nine days of Dhu al-Hijjah. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said in what is authentic from him:
There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than those ten days. ما من أيام العمل الصالح فيهن أحب إلى الله من هذه الأيام العشر
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 757Sahih (Darussalam)
.

The questioner : I read a hadith about whoever fasts on such-and-such a day, he will have the reward...

The Shaykh : Of the ten days?

The questioner : Yes, I do.

The Shaykh : No, no, there is nothing in it. The most authentic thing in it is this: that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than those ten days. ما من أيام العمل الصالح فيهن أحب إلى الله من هذه الأيام العشر
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 757Sahih (Darussalam)
And there is no doubt that fasting is among the righteous deeds.
