Returning to the discussion of medicines containing alcohol.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Shaykh, regarding the small amount of alcohol in medicine, you said that if one drinks a lot of it and it does not intoxicate, then drinking that small amount present is permissible. But there is a hadith in Sunan al-Dar Qutni, I do not know its authenticity, if it has passed you, that one of the Companions asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) about a type of drink that means it intoxicates, then he said to him:
Shall we dilute it with some water, O Messenger of Allah? He said: Every intoxicant is khamr. نكسره بشيء من الماء يا رسول الله ، فقال : كل مسكر خمر
, meaning the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) repeated with the same wording of the narration... So the Companion wanted to dilute it with water, meaning to lower its ratio, meaning it became a mixture like the medicine that has a little alcohol in it.

The Shaykh : May Allah reward you. You have taken the answer to this question. Do you not remember that I told you if you have a liter of water and you pour into it fifty percent alcohol, so this liter becomes intoxicating, then the small amount of it is not permissible. Then I mentioned to you another example: this liter of water, you poured into it five grams of alcohol, so it does not intoxicate, and this liter of water is not intoxicating, so this does not become forbidden. But the process of pouring alcohol, we said, this should not be done, because it should not be that a Muslim has an intoxicating substance. The hadith you mention, whether it is authentic or not, it supports this legal meaning upon which the scholars of the Muslims are.
