The Shaykh spoke about the indexes of some books and the work of some exegetes.

The questioner : The idea I am talking about... I want to ask regarding my situation. I want to take the indexes that are indexed alphabetically, and the hadiths found in your books and the hadiths of other books, and enter them into a system where I gather fifty to a hundred men. I started this in a certain way; what do you think of it? It is a long drawer in which I placed cards, and on each card I write the hadith, arranged alphabetically. I started with Sahih Muslim, and I began writing the hadith, writing on the card where it falls alphabetically, and I enter it and write, for example, Irwa' al-Ghalil, number such-and-such, page such-and-such. Do you think this matter has a benefit if we produce many books with it, if we gather Sahih al-Jami', Mukhtasar al-Bukhari and Muslim, and a collection of other books?

The Shaykh : Of course, there is a benefit, but this is a matter that is endless; it is endless in many books.

The questioner : It exists, meaning.

The Shaykh : I mean, do you mean indexed? For example, there is an index that was recently published for the book Majma' al-Zawa'id, Manba' al-Faraid. I do not think I have seen this index.

The questioner : No, by Allah.

The Shaykh : It is in two or three volumes only for Majma' al-Zawa'id. Then there is an index for the hadiths of al-Mizan by al-Dhahabi, and the hadiths of al-Tarikh al-Kabir by al-Bukhari, which also has an index for this. And there are two indexes for al-Du'afa' by al-'Uqayli, which was edited by a doctor from the doctors of the last times. He made the two indexes, one for the authentic ones and the other for the weak ones, from the hadiths mentioned in the book al-Du'afa' by al-'Uqayli. So he stumbled in these two indexes like stumbling in the dark night, as it is said. He mentioned weak hadiths in the index of the authentic ones, and conversely, in the weak hadiths, he mentioned authentic hadiths, some of which are agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim. So there are many indexes being published now.

The questioner : I mean, I want to combine them when it is in an encyclopedia. The idea is not that I go and write the whole hadith, the beginning of the hadith, and mention that this hadith is in Irwa' al-Ghalil, number such-and-such, page such-and-such.

The Shaykh : Yes, and then, is there an index for Irwa' al-Ghalil? Have you seen it?

The questioner : By Allah, I have not seen it. The brother I told you about in America said, "I indexed Irwa' al-Ghalil and indexed Nail al-Awtar." I combine them with a third book called...

The Shaykh : The important thing is that the index for Irwa' al-Ghalil is printed in Kuwait, and then there are some other indexes.

The questioner : Its name is such-and-such.

The Shaykh : Yes, the index for Irwa' al-Ghalil.

The questioner : And what are the other indexes available? I will try to obtain them...

The Shaykh : Do you have the index for the book Hilyat al-Awliya', and do you have the index for Tarikh Baghdad? Tarikh Baghdad by al-Khatib al-Baghdadi.

The questioner : Al-Baz Bookstore.

The questioner : I went today to look for books underneath in Makkah, meaning...

The Shaykh : When you finish from al-Marwah and you exit from the Gate of al-Marwah to the street.

The questioner : The Gate of al-Marwah is the one next to the Gate of al-Shabikah, correct? ... I do not know.

The Shaykh : Do you not know al-Safa and al-Marwah?

The questioner : Yes, I know.

The Shaykh : Okay, when the sa'y between al-Safa and al-Marwah ends, where is the last lap standing?

The questioner : At al-Marwah.

The Shaykh : At al-Marwah. Okay, and you are going up to al-Marwah, there is the Gate of al-Marwah, there is a gate on your right and there is a gate on your left, this is to the Haram. So the Gate of al-Marwah takes you to the street opposite you on the second facade, there is a bookstore or more than one bookstore.

The questioner : I arrived there today, I walked the whole distance, I bought my musawwak and such, I arrived there and they were closed.

The Shaykh : Perhaps today is Friday, they do not open?

The questioner : They were open, Allah knows about today.

The questioner : I went in the morning, I changed my clothes after Fajr.

The Shaykh : No, they do not open early, especially today on Friday.

The questioner : There is a specific bookstore, Al-Baz Bookstore.
Abu Layla : If it is regarding the indexes for Irwa' al-Ghalil, if you write to me... I will send them to you, if Allah wills. Write your address... a picture, and I will send them to you by mail.

The questioner : Is the hadith written in the indexes the whole hadith or only...

The Shaykh : No, just the beginning of it.

The questioner : And where it is found.

The Shaykh : It mentions the volume, the page, and the number.

The questioner : ... The truth is, from Sahih al-Jami', have you seen the hadiths that I read? If Allah had written this, it would need years, or maybe months.

The Shaykh : Then an index for Tafsir Ibn Kathir was published, an index for...

The questioner : A distinguished editor?

The Shaykh : No, no, just an index as you want to gather. It is an index of the hadiths of Tafsir Ibn Kathir, and there is another index for the hadiths of al-Ahyaa', which was extracted by al-Hafiz al-'Iraqi.

The questioner : Ihyaa' 'Ulum al-Din.

The Shaykh : Yes, and this is important, meaning now there is a movement of indexing because this does not require knowledge, and it is easy for everyone.

The questioner : In one area... and the repeated ones are deleted from what was mentioned... the wording is beneficial.

The Shaykh : There is no god but Allah.

The questioner : ... The collection of hadiths...

The Shaykh : The small or the large, it tells you, "Narrated by Ahmad from Abu Hurayrah." The Musnad of Abu Hurayrah in the book of Imam Ahmad is about three hundred pages or more. And I know from myself that repeatedly I read three hundred pages in order to obtain one hadith. This happens repeatedly and over and over. There are examples like the Musnad of Ibn 'Umar and the Musnad of Ibn 'Amr, and so on. This index is the key to the treasures of the Sunnah. It places them under headings and jurisprudential meanings. For example, "Tamin in Prayer" is the heading "Tamin in Prayer." It tells you: "Kaf, Bab such-and-such, Mīm, Kaf such-and-such, number such-and-such." This is their copy, and so on for all the books. For example, Ahmad, Jīm such-and-such, page such-and-such, Jīm such-and-such, page such-and-such. If I wanted to obtain this summary, I would need hours, if not days. It truly saves enormous efforts and a lot of time, and very much so. When I read this book, I said, "O Allah, this author, in order to look into it and be able to place the indexes, without a doubt he studied the books he indexed, from the beginning to the end. So he knew Islam as it is. I wonder if the German Kneseke did not want to be a Muslim. He must have become a Muslim, because the miracles of truths that pass through the years, one day they fall under my hand. A number of the magazine al-Hilal, which was published in Cairo, and those who were in charge of it were Christians, and their leader was Jurji Zaydan. It was a truly scientific magazine. I had many copies, and they are still with me. It expands the horizon of a person, meaning his information about this universe, in the sea, in the sky, and so on, in politics, in economics. And then, one day, I found an article by one of the Egyptian writers, responding to what Kneseke said about our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). And then this wicked one accused the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) of deception. Look, the book is placed and it facilitates reviewing fourteen books of the books of the Sunnah. And then this wicked one accused the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) of deceiving people, and that his claim of prophethood was that he was a liar. If these people do not place books in order to be guided, but rather so that they know, as it is said, how to eat the shoulder, how to stab Islam.
Abu Layla : Praise be to Allah, it came from the righteous Muslims.

The questioner : There are people who benefited, excuse me, there are people who were guided. So there is one in America... in the church, and the church there sends missions. So this person was preparing his doctoral dissertation, so he was preparing his doctoral dissertation, so he had a doctoral dissertation in which he was required to prove that Islam is wrong and not correct. So his academic supervisor, so he was directing him that he cannot enter the Muslims through the Qur'an because there is nothing in it... so you enter them through the hadith. Of course, his supervisor expected that he would look for the weak ones. The person was sincere, he was truly convinced that this was wrong. What happened is that he used to visit him, and the authentic books fell into his hand. So he was absent for a very long period. So they demanded him in a compulsory manner, they said to him, "You have been absent for a long period, what did you do with the dissertation?" He said to him, "I became a Muslim and I became one of the callers to Islam." His name, I think, is Johnson.

The Shaykh : It is Allah who knows best. He corresponded with me more than once, writing to me in English and providing an Arabic translation, apologizing that I do not master Arabic as it should be and asking that I not hold him accountable for poor translation. He asked me questions on the terminology of hadith, and told me that he had read *al-Silsilah al-Sahihah* and *al-Silsilah al-Da'ifah* and that he had embraced Islam. I was inclined to do so, by Allah, and I contacted some of our brothers who are proficient in English, and they tried to translate some phrases for me with a precise translation, and he did so, may Allah reward him with good. But, unfortunately, I procrastinated or was lazy and did not send him a reply. So, without a doubt, I consider these indexes to be an example of the saying of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him):
Indeed, Allah supports this religion with people who have no worth. إن الله لينصر هذا الدين بأقوام لا خلاق لهم
As-Sunan al-Kubra lil-Nasa'i 62:305
meaning that they compiled these indexes to plot against Islam, so their plot returned to their own necks.

The questioner :
Narrated Abu Huraira: We witnessed along with Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) the Khaibar (campaign). Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) told his companions about a man who claimed to be a Muslim, "This man is from the people of the Fire." When the battle started, the man fought very bravely and received a great number of wounds and got crippled. On that, a man from among the companions of the Prophet (ﷺ) came and said, "O Allah's Apostle! Do you know what the man you described as of the people of the Fire has done? He has fought very bravely for Allah's Cause and he has received many wounds." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "But he is indeed one of the people of the Fire." Some of the Muslims were about to have some doubt about that statement. So while the man was in that state, the pain caused by the wounds troubled him so much that he put his hand into his quiver and took out an arrow and committed suicide with it. Off went some men from among the Muslims to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) and said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! Allah has made your statement true. So-and-so has committed suicide." Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "O Bilal! Get up and announce in public: None will enter Paradise but a believer, and Allah may support this religion (Islam) with a wicked man." إن الله ليؤيد هذا الدين بالرجل ...
Sahih al-Bukhari 6606

The Shaykh
With a group of people who have no worth بأقوام لا خلاق لهم
As-Sunan al-Kubra lil-Nasa'i 62:305
and in another narration:
with a wicked man بالرجل الفاجر
.

The questioner : Both narrations are authentic.

The Shaykh : Yes, they are authentic.
Abu Layla : There was a doctor in America who was working on her doctoral dissertation on skin. Naturally, during the writing of her dissertation, there was a student among the committed Arab Muslim students there who, after reading this dissertation, found that if a person loses his skin, he does not feel. Naturally, this man stopped her...The student : He told her that this is what you have researched, but the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) [said it] fourteen hundred years ago. Naturally, he brought the verse, but I do not remember the verse.

The Shaykh :
Every time their skins are roasted through We will replace them with other skins so they may taste the punishment كلما نضجت جلودهم بدلناهم جلودا غيرها ليذوقوا العذاب
[An-Nisa 4:56]
.
Abu Layla : Yes, so when he recited this verse, I do not know if she stopped the dissertation... immediately...

The questioner : The truth is that the one who researched this in detail was a Frenchman, I do not know if you have heard of him, Maurice Bucaille. First, he was a leader of the Communist Party, one of the leaders of the Communist Party. He said he studied the Arabic language and studied the Qur'an in Arabic. He took the Qur'an and the Gospel and analyzed them verse by verse, spending many years on this matter, verse by verse, and seeing how these matters align with modern science. He published a book, and the book is not reasonable; it gives you the verse, gives you the modern scientific concept, and gives you an explanation of it, and tells you, "I challenge anyone that we did not know this before twenty [years]." And a doctor told me this statement, saying that the expressions in the Qur'an describing the development of the fetus are more efficient than the descriptions found in our medical books.

The Shaykh : Meaning the medical books, Allah is the Greatest.

The questioner : He says a man named...

Another questioner : Was it translated into Arabic?

The questioner : Maurice Bucaille, yes, it is translated, but I only got an English copy of it, titled *The Bible, the Qur'an and Science*... the Gospel and the Qur'an and modern science. But the book has a huge problem that I did not discover until after—unfortunately—until after the presentation... the people [wrote] in the last part that "I passed over the Sunnah, this is the Qur'an, but I passed over the Sunnah and found a contradiction in it," meaning generally a great contradiction between it and modern science. So I thought, and Allah knows best, I was inclined to send him a small book from the books of the Salafiyyah regarding the status of the Sunnah, which one of the brothers had gifted me, thinking I would send it to him or send him a copy of it, perhaps Allah would guide him. But he embraced Islam a short time ago, and he wrote the book a long time ago, and he has been researching for a long time, and his book is an argument, and he is not discussing in an emotional style, but in a...

The questioner : purely scientific style.

The Shaykh : purely scientific style. He said this phrase... and its translation, "while we find dozens of errors in the Gospel, and I analyzed the Qur'an and passed over it sentence by sentence, verse by verse, and I did not find a single error..."

The Shaykh : It shows that this is an authentic hadith among the Muslims and it is found in al-Bukhari and Muslim. Then he discusses the hadith from the medical scientific perspective, and he does not find anything that contradicts medical science today, with the note that experimental science, whether it is astronomy, or medicine, or physics, or chemistry, has things that are not definitive, meaning theoretical opinions, and these should not be relied upon to say this contradicts the Prophetic hadith. And there are things that are definitive but do not contradict the authentic Prophetic hadith.

The questioner : Hassan al-Turabi in Sudan wrote an old book *Renewing the Principles of Religion*, and he gave a lecture on the content of this book, saying, "We are ready to accept the words of a Jew in medicine and reject the words of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) if they come to us in medicine," with all this audacity... the hadith of the fly, some people called it the hadith of the fly... a strange boldness and others... his own group responded to him, al-Sadiq 'Abd al-Majid, and they expelled him from the religion... from the Muslim Brotherhood.

The questioner : The same fitnah is in America, there is an American, there is an Egyptian named Muhammad Rashad Khalifa, he used to speak about the adhan, he would call the adhan "I bear witness that there is no god but Allah," he does not say "I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah" in the adhan, and if he is absent, his wife leads the people in prayer.

The Shaykh : What Allah willed!!

The questioner : Meaning he takes from the books...

The Shaykh : He takes from the general statements, from the general statements,
The people should be lead by the one who is most well-Versed in recitation of the Book of Allah يؤم القوم أقرؤهم لكتاب الله
Sunan Ibn Majah 980Sahih (Darussalam)
.

The questioner : Meaning this hadith is on the same subject, he does not know the Sunnah at all, and this reminds us of the hadith of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)
Indeed, a time will come إنه سيأتي زمان
...

The Shaykh : Allah is the Helper.

The questioner : The problem is the media, they do not help frankly, they reflect this matter, it harms and does not benefit.

The Shaykh : Yes, they support falsehood and broadcast it and spread it.

The questioner : The newspapers... for example, the Kuwaiti magazine *al-Nahdah*, this means they put unreasonable things... written and placed between the lines, the newspapers generally regarding this matter, *al-Sharq al-Awsat*, you always find that the one who reads the *al-Sharq al-Awsat* newspaper for four years comes out seeking forgiveness from Allah, he fears America, he does not fear anyone else.

The Shaykh: Allahu Akbar.

The questioner : ... this is what was published about the article.

The Shaykh : Yes, al-Khazraji's attack.

The questioner : I, by Allah, they come to me compulsorily, I am forced to take them, I tell them do not send them to me, I have a carton in the car, every time they come by mail, I put them with me in the car, and this is for the verses in them, and I burn them every period, and in a magazine published by the same institution named *Sayyidati*.

The Shaykh : What?

The questioner : The magazine *Sayyidati*. The same institution publishes it, and this is more wicked, and things, I mean, I know this matter because I used to work in journalism, I used to work in a newspaper... and I left journalism because of this matter, because when I left, you mean I was participating in a form called... media, all the newspapers and journals, meaning the person is humiliated, meaning it is not good regarding the people's concept of Islam...

The Shaykh : Okay, in my mind, does the *al-Sharq al-Awsat* newspaper have a connection with those in charge of the *al-Muslimun* newspaper in this matter?

The questioner : It is the same, the same institution, it just sells a commodity here and sells another commodity there.

The Shaykh : Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest.

The questioner : I collected for them...

The Shaykh : Meaning trade, trade, not about creed.

The questioner : The advertisements are trade, meaning I collected for them nice pictures from the magazines that come to me, and... meaning in it, for example, "Do you think Allah is pleased with what you do?" these pictures have no implication except to stir up desires.

The Shaykh : Meaning advertising for prostitution and fornication.

The questioner : Sometimes they do an interview with someone and take the picture, they may not have an excuse, but in these cases they have no excuse at all.

The Shaykh: There is no power nor strength except with Allah.
