The Shaykh’s remarks on the fact that the Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) grave is not in the mosque.

Now, we will postpone this to another occasion, if Allah wills. Let us proceed to the answer regarding the second question, or the second part of the single question. We say: It is true that the Messenger’s grave is today in the Messenger’s Mosque, but when the Messenger (peace be upon him) died, was he buried in his mosque? The answer is no. The hadith of Aisha that caught your attention is clear evidence of this, where she said:
Had it not been for that, his grave would have been made prominent, but it was feared that it would be taken as a mosque. لولا ذاك ، أبرز قبره ولكن خشي أن يتخذ مسجداً
Meaning, had it not been for the Messenger’s (peace be upon him) mention of the Jews and Christians, and that they were cursed for taking the graves of their prophets as mosques, had it not been for this, the Messenger’s grave (peace be upon him) would have been buried in open ground, ground like the ground in front of you here. But that was not done with his grave (peace be upon him). Why? Out of fear that it would be taken as a mosque. So where was the Messenger (peace be upon him) buried? Here is the story: when he (may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him) died,
Everyone upon the earth will perish, كل من عليها فان ...
[Ar-Rahman 55:26]
his Companions differed regarding the place of his burial. Most of them had no knowledge of where the Prophet (peace be upon him) should be buried. While they were consulting on where to bury him (peace be upon him), Abu Bakr al-Siddiq entered upon them. He said to them, in answer: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say:
No prophet was buried except in the place where he died. ما من نبي إلا دفن في الموضع الذي مات فيه
,
Except in the place where he died. إلا دفن في الموضع الذي مات فيه
Where did the Messenger (peace be upon him) die? In his house, in the house of Lady Aisha. Therefore, the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) were the most eager people regarding the Shari'ah, whereas most of us do not care about it. As soon as they heard this hadith, they pulled out the bed on which the Messenger died and dug beneath it. This was in Aisha’s house, and Aisha’s house was next to the Messenger’s Mosque (peace be upon him). Therefore, the hadiths were mass-transmitted that the Messenger (peace be upon him) used to go out from his house to the mosque until the day of Friday. When Bilal called the adhan on Friday, or before Bilal called the adhan on Friday, the Messenger would go out from the house to the pulpit immediately. And as soon as Bilal saw the Messenger ascend the pulpit, he would call the adhan, and then the Messenger (peace be upon him) would begin the khutbah until the end. So, the Messenger of Allah was buried in his house. But what happened after that? Something regrettable occurred. In the time of one of the kings of the Umayyads, or the caliphs of the Umayyads, they saw it necessary to expand the Prophet’s Mosque. It is known that 'Umar ibn al-Khattab had made an expansion to the Prophet’s Mosque, and likewise 'Uthman ibn 'Affan after him. Look at the difference now between the Companions and their work, and those who came after them. 'Umar ibn al-Khattab’s expansion, and 'Uthman’s expansion, were not at the expense of the chambers of the Mothers of the Believers, which included the chamber of Lady Aisha. Rather, they were on the southern side, where they say to this day that 'Umar’s addition was there, and 'Uthman’s addition was on another side that does not come to my mind now. But in the time of the Umayyads, they found a need to expand the mosque, so they expanded it from the side of the Messenger’s grave (peace be upon him). They raised the partition wall between Aisha’s house and the houses of the other Mothers of the Believers, and the mosque. So the grave became in the mosque, where you see it today. And you think that the Messenger (peace be upon him) was buried in his mosque. This makes the matter difficult for you when you hear these hadiths and hear what indicates them regarding the prohibition of praying in mosques built over graves.
