Working in churches and taking wages for it

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: I worked in one of the churches for a daily wage. What is the ruling on this wage I received? Is it lawful or forbidden? Please advise me on this. May Allah reward you all with good.

Answer: It is not permissible for a Muslim to work in places of shirk (associating partners with Allah) and the worship of other than Allah (Mighty and Majestic), such as churches or shrines, or anything else. By doing so, he becomes a confirmer of falsehood and an assistant to its people in it. His work is forbidden (haram), so he must not undertake this job. The wage he received in exchange for this work is forbidden earnings, so he must repent to Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He).
If he gives this amount he obtained in charity, it would be a purer course for his conscience and would be a sign of the sincerity of his regret and repentance.

In conclusion: A Muslim must not be an assistant to the people of falsehood, nor a wage-earner in places of shirk and sites of idolatry, such as churches and shrines, or any other works of the disbelievers and polytheists. By doing so, he becomes an aid to them in falsehood, a confirmer of their evil, and his earnings become forbidden (haram), refuge is sought in Allah.
