Do we recite the tashahhud in the second rak'ah, and is that by adding the Ibrahimiyyah prayer, and what is the evidence for that?

The questioner : Do we recite the tashahhud in the second rak'ah, and is that by adding the Ibrahimiyyah prayer, and what is the evidence for that? We want the details, and may Allah reward you with good.

The Shaykh : The first tashahhud in the three- and four-rak'ah prayers is limited to saying: "The greetings are to Allah, and the prayers and the pure things. Peace be upon you, O Prophet, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. Peace be upon us and upon the righteous servants of Allah. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and His Messenger." This is the most preferred. If one adds and says: "O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad, as You sent blessings upon Ibrahim and upon the family of Ibrahim, for You are Praiseworthy and Majestic. O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad, as You sent blessings upon Ibrahim and upon the family of Ibrahim, for You are Praiseworthy and Majestic," there is no harm. Some scholars have recommended this addition, but the closest view to me is to limit it to the first extent. If one adds, there is no harm, especially if the imam prolongs the tashahhud; in that case, one adds the prayer we mentioned.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good.
